🌱 Exciting changes coming soon to Liverpool's iconic Royal Albert Docks. We've been busy supporting a talented design team, led by Planit, on making a real #impactthatmatters at the Royal Albert Docks. We are proud to have led on the planning and heritage workstreams culminating in the submission of an application just a few weeks ago. The proposals tackle some of the major challenges facing heritage projects today: 🏛️ Contributing to making heritage accessible for all - Facilitating the implementation of fully accessible routes, promoting enjoyment and greater use of the historic docks and quaysides. Introducing new interpretive design and wayfinding will enhance visitor’s understanding of the docks and its heritage. 🌆 Promoting city centre vitality and supporting the visitor, culture and tourism economy - Contributing positively to Liverpool Waterfront as a major cultural destination, helping promote Liverpool’s role as a centre for tourism and culture in the UK and ultimately enhancing the visitor experience at the Royal Albert Docks itself, and the notable Museum’s that it is home to. 💚 Sympathetic, sustainable interventions to historic assets - As a retrofit project, the scheme will sustainably re-use existing materials and seek to introduce climate adaptive planting. 🌼 Re-introducing nature to the public realm - The docklands, before their regeneration in the late C20th, have previously been re-greened by nature and time. A successful modern day re-greening of the docks will be climate adaptive and follow nature’s rules – including planting that is suitable for the unique microclimate of the docks. At Deloitte's Heritage Centre of Excellence, we are well-versed in tackling today's challenges in a heritage context. Katie Wray Eleanor Scrafton Frances Hampson
