Reporter, The Wall Street Journal

Every reporter has their white whale and mine for a while has been Terence Reilly, the marketer widely accredited for turning around the fortunes of Crocs, Inc. clogs and the Stanley cup (you might have seen the TikTok video of him gifting a fan a new car after hers burned to smithereens). Now he's back in the ring for Revival Round Three: HeyDude shoes, the cozy loafer company that Crocs acquired in 2022. For The Wall Street Journal, I spoke to him about his strategy for turning around the brand's middling sales, the guiding principles that helped him become one of the most talked-about executives in the industry, and his decision to leave Stanley at the height of its fame. “That was when I knew it was time to go,” he said. “It was actually starting to become about me.”
