I watched the Confluent Current 2024 key note and I think it is interesting one specially because of AI and real-data streaming intersection. Jay Kreps painted a picture of companies becoming living, breathing software entities. Data streaming is the secret sauce that's tying everything together, especially when it comes to AI. Confluent dropped some cool new toys for developers: AI superpowers for flink, a slick way to feed data lakes called table flow, and they bought WarpStream to let folks run things in their own cloud playground. The big idea? Make data streaming so easy and powerful that it becomes a no-brainer for companies to use it as their digital backbone. They're aiming to be the nervous system of the business world. Speaking of getting up to speed on streaming, I've been diving into "Streaming databases" by Hubert Dulay and Ralph Matthias Debusmann. It's been a game-changer for understanding streaming world. You might wonder, "Why bother with a streaming book in the age of AI?" Well, as the keynote showed, streaming is going to be the backbone of the AI data stack.
