Executive Director, National Theatre

It's a joy to look ahead with optimism and excitement as we announce Indhu Rubasingham as our new Director for the National Theatre from Spring 2024. Indhu is someone I deeply admire as both a leader and artist, and importantly, I believe we share the same values and aspirations for this incomparable theatre. Delighted too that Indhu and I will begin our working partnership as Joint Chief Executives. I am looking forward beyond measure to starting a new chapter leading together, working with the best artists and epic colleagues to make theatre that entertains and inspires audiences around the world.   Indhu is so brilliantly placed given her history of working regularly across all three of our stages, most recently with the critically acclaimed production of Anupama Chandrasekhar's The Father and the Assassin, which returned to the Olivier earlier this year. Her experiences during her tenure as Artistic Director of Kiln Theatre, which included oversight of a major capital campaign as well as establishing new writing as a mission mainstay, will be of immense value when she joins us at the end of Rufus' term in Spring 2025. Celebrations for both Rufus tenure and Indhu beginning in this time of change, but for now plaudits to Chair Sir Damon Buffini, the NT Board, and its Succession Panel lead by Trustee Simon Warshaw for their energy, care and investment in the process as a whole.

Congratulations Kate, A fellow colleague of mine at the London Library Emerging Writers Programme 2021/22, Sid Sagar was in The Father & The Assassin but I took ill when it returned to the NT and was unable to catch him in it. I hope we get a chance to work together upon your arrival though. All best wishes, Paul Atherton (FRSA) https://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/artists/sid-sagar/
