Mars sucks. You know what doesn`t suck? Earth.   Please watch this amazing video, remember to turn on sound.   A great thanks to Activista and @GalaxyGarden for creating it, and to Tim Riedel for making me aware of it.   Have a great week everyone, please remember that courage is contagious.

You know what's missing in the video, mentioning the root cause: Capitalism

Absolutely, the idea of moving out of earth that some technodreamers are trying to convince us all, it’s not only stupid in my opinion but very perverse as well.We can’t deal with our planet earth spaceship because we can live within its boundaries as opposed as all other species, and then we pretend to make a new settlement in a dead planet - at least compared to earth - with a bunch of weatlhy humans that can afford the techno cost for that, in the best case scenario. Bucinater Fuller, Sagan amd many other serious and conscious thinkers, they said it in the past quite vehemently, but some techno business keep the challenge in order to raise funds from the same people they don’t want to fix Earth in the first place. What a cynical and selfish behaviour this is. They know perfectly well that living in Mars makes no sense at all, not for humanity as a whole. This is a stick and carrot distraction ploy in order to get us changing the focus, that should be 100% to make Planet Earth our fair Place.

Except no one is suggesting we move to Mars. You can do two things simultaneously without conflicting with each other

here’s one more thing, rather fundamental from the perspective of a life form created from the Earth and her elements, from her gravity, from her electromagnetic field—Mars doesn’t have a magnetosphere. the life we are is composed of the Earth’s dust and water suspended in very specific electromagnetic conditions, and that makes us Earth-endemic. when we move polar bears, pandas, platypi, dragon trees, red sequoias or jalisca pines to a different continent, to a different climate, adaptations have to be made to make the new habitat resemble the original as much as possible, and it is possible to an extent only because it’s still Earth, this colonialism doesn’t scale and apply to extraterrestrial, ill-informed arrogance. we’re not going anywhere, not now, not ever. https://defector.com/neither-elon-musk-nor-anybody-else-will-ever-colonize-mars

Despite I fully agree with the message, I don’t think that space exploration in any way prevents humanity from finding solutions for earth issues. We waste billions daily on vanity things and stuff we don’t need, and we waste them here on earth. Space research delivers technological progress, and we need that.

Earth is glorious and the fact it exists is absolutely amazing. All those hoping to go to heaven after die need to realise that we are living in heaven right now and we need to look after it now and not hope there is a better place to go.

I love this! And totally agree. Have thought that for quite a while now. There are so many still desolated areas on earth people can live if they want isolation. The oceans, the desert, Antartica? Not in a move in and destroy way but if overpopulation is a problem, let's move there. At least we have oxygen to breathe and potential to grow foods.

"I don't know what word in the language—I can’t find one—that applies to people of that kind, who are willing to sacrifice the existence of organized human life, not in the distant future, so they can put a few more dollars in highly overstuffed pockets. The word “evil” doesn’t begin to approach it." - Noam Chomsky

What so many people forget is that human beings are all set to transfer all their arrogance, division and agression to outer space and of course to other planets and asteroids subject to the question of ownership, mineral rights and all the rest. Naturally the risk of transferring Earthbound conflict is very high; nations are already experimenting with lasers to shoot down satellites.

To stop and replace this insanity with sane exciting visions requires massive organizing, which requires massive numbers of fulltime organizers. I think i have a solution, AdoptAnOrganizer, that an solve that problem. Care to advise?
