Career Fair Season is here!! Whether you're a soon-to-be new grad or a seasoned professional looking for a change, career fairs are a great way to explore potential opportunities and network with industry experts. But let's be real, the most nerve-wracking part is when the recruiter turns the tables and asks "So, do you have any questions for me?" Don't worry, I've got your back! Here are some questions you should definitely ask during an internship career fair: 1️⃣ What are the key skills and qualities you look for in an intern at your company? 2️⃣ Can you tell me about a successful intern who has gone on to become a full-time employee at your company? 3️⃣ How does your company support and foster professional development for interns? 4️⃣ Can you walk me through a typical day in the life of an intern at your company? Remember, asking the right questions not only shows your genuine interest in the company, but it also helps you gain a better understanding of the company culture and expectations. Good Luck!!

Getting ready for an upcoming career fair? Discover why participating can be a valuable step towards achieving your career aspirations… 👇 ◾ Exploration of Career Paths: By interacting with representatives from various industries and companies, you can gain insights into different roles, responsibilities, and career trajectories. This can help you make informed decisions about your future career path and identify opportunities you may not have considered before. ◾ Access to Multiple Employers: Career fairs typically host a diverse range of employers, from small startups to large corporations. This allows you to explore different companies, learn about their cultures, and discover potential job openings that match your skills and interests. ◾ Face to Face Interaction: Unlike online job applications or emails, career fairs provide the opportunity for face-to-face interaction with recruiters and hiring managers. This personal interaction allows you to make a memorable impression, showcase your personality, and express your enthusiasm for the company and its opportunities. ◾ Building Confidence & Professionalism: Attending a career fair can be an excellent opportunity to practice and improve essential professional skills, such as networking, communication, and self-presentation. Engaging in conversations with recruiters and other attendees can help build confidence and polish interpersonal skills. 📅 Reminder that Joulé will be attending the Rutgers University 2024 Spring Career & Internship Fair. Please connect with Maria Eliza Dzmil and Catherine Benne, MBA, if you have any questions. We hope to see you there! #careerfair #networking #careerpath #newgrad #internship #careergrowth

It’s March! 🚨 This means on-campus career fairs for Summer 2024 internships/jobs are up again ⏰ I got my first internship through a career fair held in MARCH, so I put together everything you’ll need to navigate & be successful at your next career fair: I like to break it down into 3 stages: before, during, and after! 1️⃣ Before: - Check out exactly what companies will be present and read up on the products/services of your top 10. - Any last minute tweaking of your resume for things like updating your GPA, previous experience, projects, etc - Prepare your elevator pitch - Put the date/time/location in your calendar and account for the commute or check-in time - if you know who will be present from the company, check out their LinkedIn profile to see any similar interests or background (many times recruiters can be alumni as well) - Check their company’s career website and apply to the roles in advance of the career fair (sometimes they can even check your application on the spot 👀) - make a feel good confidence playlist for the day of/commute (stole this from the amazing Daniel Horgan) 2️⃣ Day of & during: - Dress professionally in something you’re both confident and comfortable in - Practice your elevator pitch first thing in the morning - Get the ‘networking nerves’ out by going to a company that isn't exactly your target for practice - Don’t directly hand off your resume and start asking about jobs, show actual interest in their work! - Bring up the position you applied for - Leave your resume with them and ask if you can stay connected (they usually offer their LinkedIn at the very least) 3️⃣ After: - Follow up the day after - Keep in touch by interacting with their posts or company news - Sign up for job alerts for the companies you had the most interest in to stay up to date - Prepare for interviews or attend another fair! Now, rinse & repeat until you master em! Remember, practice beats talent :) Any other suggestions? Hope this helps somebody out there for their next fair!
