Last Friday marked my final day at SawitPRO. It’s been an incredible journey, even though my tenure was just shy of two years (23.5 months). It feels like a lifetime because of the remarkable growth and achievements we’ve experienced together. When we started in January 2023, we were a small but determined team: one CEO, two VPs, one HR, and one engineer, all working out of a single room. Today, SawitPRO has grown into a thriving organization of over 120 talented individuals, with offices in Jakarta, Pekanbaru, and Jambi. While the scale of the company has expanded, our vision remains steadfast: to improve the livelihoods of everyone in the palm oil industry. From a product perspective, we started by defining the problem statement and launched our first app, Agen, in May 2023. Since then, we’ve built and released six more apps—Petani, Agen, Pekerja, Duta, Supir, and Estate—on the Google Play Store, maintaining a disciplined release cycle every two weeks. Although our products are still in the early stages and striving for market fit, there are promising signs of success. For example, the Petani SawitPRO app, launched in late February 2024, has already surpassed 100,000 downloads—a testament to the impact we’re making. As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. I’ve received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with another company that I couldn’t pass up. While this marks the end of my chapter with SawitPRO, I remain a firm believer in its mission to revolutionize the palm oil industry and drive significant change for Indonesia. Instead of assigning a whole department to someone that knows nothing about your business.. Why don't you try delegating a repeated system? Like your process for setting up a product launch PPC ad campaign. Hiring for experience sounds like a good idea But maybe hiring for no experience is a route that works better for you No Experience Teach skills from scratch Easier to focus on character and culture fit Undervalued in the market With Experience Difficult to re-teach learnings Higher comp expected Lower talent pool to choose from If you are hiring with experience, you better know how to test for it.
