Strategy is not just a step that follows planning; rather, it is the foundation from which planning is initiated to achieve the set objectives. Turning vision and aspirations into reality requires a clear methodology that ensures alignment between high-level goals and practical steps. The strategic pyramid serves as a comprehensive framework to help organizations define their purpose, craft their strategies, and implement them efficiently. The Strategic Pyramid: 1. Purpose: • Mission: Why do we exist? • Values: What matters to us? • Vision: What do we aspire to become? 2. Strategy: • Strategic Intent: How will we get there? • Drivers: What will we focus on? • Enablers: What frameworks, resources, and skills will we use? 3. Many things we do daily require a strategy and do you understand the components 🤔While strategy is the action plan that takes you where you want to go, the tactics are the individual steps and actions that will get you there. In a business context, this means the specific actions teams take to implement the initiatives outlined in the strategy. 🦺Strategy provides the foundation and direction. Without a clear strategy, tactical efforts may be disjointed or ineffective because they lack a coherent goal to align with.

Creating a powerful strategy requires a blend of three critical components: Time, Insights, and Effort. 1. Time Time is essential for thoughtful planning, iteration, and execution. Before embarking on a new corporate or business strategy, assess your available time. Are you in a crisis needing an immediate turnaround? If so, your time constraints will impact the strategy’s success. Crafting a groundbreaking strategy under tight deadlines is challenging, regardless of effort or intelligence. 2. Insights Strategies are often born from change. Whether it’s new competitors, market shifts, inflation, or evolving customer preferences, identifying these changes and their impacts is crucial. Insights are the foundation of a strong strategy. Many companies fail by not thoroughly researching the root problems, often focusing internally and missing external market shifts. Insights act as the guiding light, illuminating the real issues and enabling precise, effective solutions. 3. Effort Even with ample time and insights, a strategy can falter without dedicated effort. Effort encompasses both manpower and financial resources. Investing in strategy development is non-negotiable. This might involve reallocating team members or hiring consultants to bridge skill gaps. The investment is necessary to avoid market share or profitability losses and to build a robust solution. When a company notices a negative trend in key performance indicators (KPIs), the question arises: “Should we change our strategy?” The answer is always, “It depends.” However, if a pivot is needed, ensure you have the Time, Insights, and Effort to execute the change successfully.
