I publish Exec Engineering, a weekly digest on Engineering + Talent | Co-founder & CEO at Gemography

If your non-tech teams rely on your engineers for every tech-related task, something needs to change. Imagine a workplace where marketers, analysts, and product managers can independently build, automate, and execute their ideas without waiting for engineering support. That’s what I like to call “tech autonomy”. For years, many non-tech folks have seen technology as too complex or specialized. And while that was once true, today the real barriers are psychological. The tools are already available, accessible, affordable, and incredibly powerful. Just the combo [Claude/ChatGPT for guidance + Google Apps Script for build and automation + Any other Google app] can create wonders. Think marketing teams building their Engineering-as-Marketing web apps, Ops teams crafting real-time dashboards with custom integrations without pulling engineers away from core development, or Admin teams building proprietary one-click invoicing apps... The possibilities are endless. This is especially true for startups, where every team member’s ability to innovate and execute directly impacts growth. AI is at the heart of this transformation. And CEOs and leaders need to fully integrate it and push for more self-sufficient teams that can innovate and deliver at unprecedented speeds. What’s one tech-related task your non-tech team could start owning today with the help of AI?
