Software Developer @Tennet

I just finished the first (fictional) novel from Jurgen Appelo; Glitches of Gods. Normally, I wouldn't use LinkedIn for a book review - I have GoodReads for that - but I wanted to make an exception for this one as Jurgen Appelo is a well-known name in our field and I'm sure many of my connections have heard from him. Having just read about 10 books from Brandon Sanderson, and always picking books with lots of positive reviews, switching to a debut novel with hardly any reviews (at least, back when I started) can be tricky. But boy, do I NOT regret that. As a software engineer, I know most of the latest insights on AI and VR, and as someone with an interest in philosophy, I loved to see it all come together in this book. And yes, there are standups in this book. And a ScrumMaster, and secretly - or, should I say, probably - some management advice hidden between the lines. Oh.. and cat memes, and robots, and AI assistants, and self-driving taxis, and crashing spaceships, and cyborgs, and multiple realities, and hackers, and Gods, and witches, and... above all, it's a strong, believable story with lots of twists to keep you engaged and surprised throughout the book. Which is, if you all elements into consideration, more than impressive. So basically what I would like to say is: Jurgen Appelo, congratulations! I can't wait for part two. https://lnkd.in/eTciDpn9
