I used to spend days reading a series of books. Over time, that habit faded, replaced by screens and shorter bursts of information. But last year, when Jurgen Appelo invited me to be a beta reader for his new book, Glitches of Gods, I saw it as my chance to rebuild my muscle of reading longer non-screen texts. This weekend, I received a signed copy of the final version, and what a journey it has been! Sci-fi plus leadership and team dynamics plus AI plus cats. It was really a fun way to think about these topics. Thanks, Jurgen, for this signed copy and reigniting my love of reading. I’m still building that habit back, but books like this make it easier. The review I left on Amazon: Jurgen Appelo's new book is a fun, modern, and mind-bending journey. This sci-fi plot is filled with unexpected twists and turns that kept me guessing until the last page. I love that! I liked how he integrated agile and team leadership principles into the story. It added a unique depth that made it relatable for anyone working on a team of "characters." While numerous, the characters in this story are distinct, complex, and charming. This book is a testament to Jurgen's versatility and creativity as a writer - and comedian! His sense of humor shines throughout: from witty one-liners to laugh-out-loud moments, his timing and imagery are hilariously creative. So jump in. Enter Julien's worlds, along with his human team, AI team, the sinister cat, a family, and sometimes good coffee.
