Using cosine similarity metrics, the model calculates the distance between books and recommends the ones with the closest match. 💡 Why It Matters: Finding your next favorite book can be a daunting task with so many options available. I am an avid reader. Lately, I have read some real game-changers, three in particular that have been instrumental in helping me find greater focus- Ikigai By Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles and the companion book The Ikigai Journey by the same two authors, and last but not least, Essentialism by Greg McKeown. My journey to find my Ikigai began with my Executive Coach, John Tarnoff MA/MSP. Still, Garcia and Miralles wrote books that played pivotal roles in bringing focus to my personal brand and value proposition. The ability to gain clarity around doing work that you love, are good at, doing something the world needs and that people will pay for is invaluable for someone like me who loves to chase new shiny objects. The third and equally important to me is Essentialism by Greg Mckeown. McKeown artfully makes the case for doing less. He says it best- the essentialist focuses on less but better. McKeown takes the 80/20 rule to new heights with Essentialism. Many of us find our lives epitomizing the old saying- when everything is a priority, nothing is a priority. I highly recommend these three books to anyone who feels they are on a hamster wheel running faster and faster, doing more and more, and getting nowhere. What are you reading? Welp I got my first one star review. I knew this would happen but I was still disappointed as the overall score dropped from 4.9 to 4.6. But I guess even Malcolm Gladwell's "Outliers" is a 4.6. The literary classic (audiobook) "Kardashian Konfidential" (narrated by Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe) is a 4.2, which is basically criminal. I guess I'm in good company. I targeted the tone and level of the book to senior defense and intelligence leaders and purposely made it high-level. My dad made it to chapter 5. But I was concerned that some customers would say it's not deep enough and yep that's what happened. I mean on page 3 it does say, *quote* "to provide you with an approachable, easy-to-read, high-level overview of the critical aspects of AI as applied to key roles and missions in defense and intelligence." And Chapter 3 does note that if you want a deep dive into techical details, here are two other books totaling over 2,000 pages. Why try to compete with Russell and Norvig? But then I guess the more I read it, I think the substance of the review is actually helpful to potential readers. I guess it's kind of like "ugh, one star, this milk doesn't even have any lactose in it!" (oooh!) or "One star I hate this game it's basically only about crafting and base building with nothing that can actually kill you." (one click order). Someone might be like "Finally a book about AI that doesn't require that you know anything about math!" (this is true). As an interesting aside, I decided to make the book available in multiple regions and this GPA-crushing review appears to come from Germany where I've only sold four copies and made less than ten dollars. So, that was a costly decision.
