This is so so important! Indigenius biodiversity & spirit of the land knowledge garnered over 60,000 + years. A no brainer.. of course Indigenous Australians should be the centre starting point for all major land discussions & biodiversity protection. 🌏 #Australia #naidoc #biodiversity #climatechange
We're creating 12 new Indigenous Protected Areas! These new Indigenous Protected Areas will mean local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will have the opportunity to manage and care for Country. Importantly, the Indigenous Rangers Program will help to close the gap by giving First Nations people work on country. This is good for jobs, good for the environment, and it’s good for culture.

I celebrate this initiative as a positive step forward in our journey to reconciliation. However, some of the comments made on the original post are disturbing, and sadly, seem to reflect a wider bias in Australian society. I have analysed one comment in particular and offer my thoughts below. I will not attribute the comment to anyone, because I do not want to give this racist diatribe any more air than is necessary. The original comment stated, "This miniature standard of Governing to appease 1% of the population reflects poorly on our World perception. Thank God the referendum stopped the to some degree." My analysis is as follows: Dismissive Language: The term “miniature standard of Governing” dismisses the significance of the Indigenous Protected Areas initiative. This belittles the efforts aimed at empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, which can be seen as disrespectful and discriminatory. Stereotyping: The comment implies that the initiative is merely to “appease 1% of the population”. This oversimplifies and stereotypes the diverse Indigenous communities, reducing them to a mere statistic. It also ignores the broader benefits of the initiative, such as environmental conservation and cultural preservation. Negative World Perception: The assertion that the initiative “reflects poorly on our World perception” suggests a negative bias against policies that support minority groups. This can foster a divisive narrative that undermines social cohesion. Referendum Reference: The phrase “Thank God the referendum stopped the (sic) to some degree” seems to express relief at limiting the rights or recognition of Indigenous peoples. This sentiment can contribute to a hostile environment for these communities.

We are of this place. This land made us who we are. It taught us how to live. It kept us honest. That’s why we care so much about it and the people who live on it. It’s why we place so much value on relationships—what’s best for people who live here and people who come here, and what’s best for their families. #westernranchbrokers #montanaranch #ranchforsale #montanarealestate #wyomingranch #wyomingrealestate #wyomingranches

All national parks exist on traditional Indigenous lands, and in many cases, thousands of years’ worth of Native American history has been documented at national park sites. Indigenous people were forcibly removed from their homelands, yet strong connections still exist between Tribal communities and the lands that sustained them since time immemorial. In some cases, Tribes were specifically removed to create national parks, and the National Park Service continues to struggle with that dark legacy. Tensions over access to sacred sites within national parks have continued for decades after the parks’ creation and in some cases remain ongoing. We've put together stories about the original stewards and inhabitants of our national parks. There's no one story or missive that can adequately or wholly represent Indigenous land and people, but we hope this regularly updated collection can act as an entry point: https://bit.ly/3YevcQE #IndigenousPeoplesDay #NationalParksAreNativeLand

Our first home here - Chesapeake Colony Estates 💚 Awesome neighbors! We still get invited, even if we don’t live there anymore. On this picture you can see part of the Colony Estates ladies 💃 In the US, the warmth of welcoming neighbors is often a cherished part of community life. From friendly greetings to offering help with a smile, it’s common for neighbors to introduce themselves or even bring a welcome gift when someone new moves in. This open hospitality creates a sense of belonging and connection. While Europe has its own charms, such overt friendliness isn’t always as common. In many European cultures, neighbors may be more reserved, valuing privacy and boundaries over spontaneous interaction. The welcoming spirit in the US fosters a sense of community that’s unique and heartwarming. #atlanticexpats #expatinusa #europeansintheusa #expatlife #natofamilies #expatlife #relocationspecialists #movewithease #movetochesapeake #movetovirginia #colonyestatesladies #welcomingneighbors
