Dating apps like Bumble and Tinder have been criticized for gamifying human connections. The AI assistant narrows down potential partners based on compatibility, potentially reducing the number of dates from 600 to fewer than five. However, accuracy remains a concern as dating app algorithms have not been great at determining compatibility. Bumble's AI system generates opening messages for users. A small nuance in consumer motivation can have big implications on a brand or product strategy. If you found out your target audience was using your brand or product for something different, something deeper than you realized, how might it change your strategy? 🤔 In a recent study on dating apps, we found that 8% of people joined them to combat loneliness. 💔 Now 8% isn't a big number. Unless you consider that we did not actually ask about loneliness OR why people join dating apps. The loneliness idea only emerged when we asked open-ended questions and used #AI prompts to follow up for more detail.❔ See link in comments to read more how we uncovered the hidden drivers.
