Blog post 1 - A Christmas Close-Up You may ask why I chose to focus on the tiny details of our Christmas tree. Well, that’s because I feel like not many people do, and I felt like it was time to give the little parts of a Christmas tree their due. What fascinated me was that without taking a photo of the whole tree, I knew it was a Christmas tree. I did feel that, when I decorated the tree, the beads were not often used for festive decorations and maybe it was a bit much. However, when I was taking these pictures, I found myself absorbed by the beads and they formed the centre pieces of many of my photos. Taking these pictures created a fun yet challenging task. I only had a small bit of time as we had to take the tree down (it was long overdue!). So I was left to play with the light and the tinsel. I was filled with gratitude that I had the chance to take these photos with what they represented. It was the first Christmas for C and I, in our first home together, and we were planning our year for more, starting with this website. I think I will photograph our tree every year, as a close-up, to really allow us the opportunity to slow down and notice the details that fill our homes with such joy, year on year. T x.
