The first #Analytics hire should be a bridge between the business and the data scientists. A design thinker who understands and communicates well with both. Knows how and when to leverage the right #Data resources. This is the most difficult aspect of analytics to outsource.

You should consider a career in data. You get to do all kinds of fun things like… . . . . . 📌 Investigate the differences between 20 different date fields with no documentation 📌 Deliver data solutions you spent weeks on…only to have them go unused 📌 Debug for hours on end without anything tangible to show for it 📌 And more! Sounds great, right? 😃 Okay I kid…but if anything here doesn’t sound like your cup of tea… …know that this is what a data career really looks like… It’s not all rainbows and sunshine. A data career isn’t just… 📌 Working in tech 📌 Working remotely 📌 Making good money 📌 Modeling the iris dataset 📌 Creating cool visualizations …like many are led to believe. Data is tough. ➡️ Make sure that you’re interested in or at least willing to handle the less glamorous aspects of working with data. Or you’ll burn out fast. 🧙♂️ Thoughts? --- Follow, connect, and share your perspective! 📚 Visit the link in my bio for more content and free resources! #data #analytics #dataanalytics #dataanalyst #datascience

Are you feeling a lack of creativity in your data engineering job? Do you feel like you don't have a say in the projects you work on, or how you tackle certain problems? Or maybe you are a data analyst who is fed up with low-quality data and wants to be on the frontlines ensuring bad quality data doesn't make it into production. If any of this sounds like you, have you considered analytics engineering? After 3 years of working as a data engineer, I realized I needed more interaction with the business and greater autonomy in how I was solving problems. Unfortunately, I couldn't get what I wanted from data engineering, so I switched to analytics engineering. Now I feel like I am directly involved in every business AND engineering decision, I have the power to solve data quality issues as I see fit, and I have the freedom to improve the data stack we are building. If analytics engineering sounds interesting to you, come check out my (free) talk where I walk you through how to transition to analytics engineering tomorrow at MDS Fest at 10am PST. #dataengineering #dataanalytics

CHANGE MY MIND…. Of the over 5,237 things wrong with the whole hiring process these days This one , if it’s not the worst, is in the top 5. Asking a candidate what they want to make BEFORE having an interview and understanding truly what it entails! You said data scientist Does that mean advance ML models, random forests and clustering projects? Because that starts at 250k Or does that mean data engineering, monitoring data pipelines and managing entitlements? That’s 150-190 Or are we talking data procurement, ingestion and wrangling. That a broad range but I’d say 125-165 **** this one truly is inspired from another post on my feed where the very first question was ‘ what do you want to make ‘ #data #excel #analytics #personaldevelopment
