Our recent publication reveals how actors from different institutions can jointly modify apprenticeship programmes so that these programmes are useful for turning low-skilled temporary workers into "Fachkräfte". By recognizing the varied aspirations of involved actors, how they develop compromises and adjust them to unexpected events, we can learn under which conditions such programmes are likely to be implemented successfully.
Our article, "How You Value Shapes Whom You Value: The Contribution of Apprenticeships to Sustainable Development Goals," was recently published in the German Journal of Human Resource Management's special issue on "Achieving Sustainable Development Goals through a Common-Good HRM: Context, Approach and Practice." Co-authored with Julia Brandl, Laverne Iminza Chore, and Mario Junker, our article explores a case study on how apprenticeship programmes can be adapted to reskill temporary workers, aligning with the decent work agenda and supporting sustainable development goals. Our findings highlight the crucial role of multistakeholder collaboration in adjusting labour market instruments to achieve sustainability goals.
