My friend and colleague Lee Janger and I had the opportunity to speak at the World Bank. We spoke to a very thoughtful audience, experts representing various regions around the world, and touched upon the breadth of policy and technical considerations for decarbonization of both light and heavy-duty transport. It was a fantastic discussion, with a broad consensus on continuing the adoption of available technologies for lowering air pollution in densely populated parts of the world while working on new ones to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels. Thanks to Shomik Mehndiratta for the kind invitation and hosting us on a beautiful day in DC. And to all of those in attendance for the enthusiastic participation. #worldbank #transportation

In Edinburgh, at the Cash Sustainability Forum, our own Lachlan McDonald discussed CCL Secure's efforts to reduce our carbon emissions internally . We further discussed on our larger scale initiatives, such as collaborating with Central Banks to reduce their carbon footprint. This partnership not only addresses global warming, but also aims to mitigate their impact on water depletion, air quality, biodiversity, climate toxicity, and excess nitrogen. It is up to individuals, organisations, and countries to decide how to address climate change. We can decide to do nothing, do something small, or really do something that makes a difference. Fortunately, we are proud to work with organisations like central banks that are committed to making a significant impact, and that is what we are eager to highlight. #Sustainability #EnvironmentalImpact #ClimateChange #CentralBanks #CCLSecure #CurrencyManagement #Cash #Banknotes #Currency

A new report from Market Forces has found Australia’s biggest banks have continued lending billions to expand fossil fuel projects, pouring fuel on the fire of climate pollution and making it harder for Australia to hit Paris climate targets. Instead of delaying our shift to clean energy and locking in more climate pollution, Australia’s ‘Big Four’ banks must rapidly accelerate investment in clean energy sources like solar and wind to ensure a safer future for our kids.

We need a just transition to clean energy now Ajay Banga, in his first year as World Bank president, has made meaningful progress on climate finance. But there’s still more work to do. Join us in calling on World Bank President Banga to : - End all financing for fossil fuel projects worldwide; - Use World Bank lending to accelerate a just transition to clean energy in the Global South and beyond; - Ensure Global South nations have access to the fair credit they need to build healthy and resilient net-zero economies. https://lnkd.in/d3ffZN5R

The 15th #BankingOnClimateChaos reveals that fossil fuel financing from the world’s top 60 banks has reached $6.9 TRILLION in the 8 years since the adoption of the Paris Agreement. The 2024 Banking on Climate Chaos report is the most comprehensive analysis on fossil fuel banking produced to date. It is published by Rainforest Action Network, BankTrack, Center for Energy, Ecology, and Development (CEED), Indigenous Environmental Network, Oil Change International, Reclaim Finance - ONG, Sierra Club and Urgewald. In 2023 alone the world's biggest banks have poured $705 billion into the fossil fuel industry, $347 billion for fossil fuel expansion. Instead of investing in a livable future for us all, big banks are driving climate devastation and human rights violations in every corner of the world. #DefundClimateChaos #BOCC

The EU Green Deal targets climate neutrality by 2050, aiming for clean energy and sustainable industries. However, fossil fuel financing persists due to energy security risks associated with fully moving away from oil and gas. Since the 2016 Paris Agreement, banks have funded the fossil fuel industry with around €6.5 trillion. As sustainability deadlines near, Angela Barnes of #TheBigQuestion spoke with Wim Mijs, CEO of the European Banking Federation, about the complexities of divesting and other challenges facing European banking.
