🌟 Yesterday was the final day of the #WEConference2024 in Lisbon, I was inspired by our deep dive into transforming how we live and work.
Yesterday marked a monumental day for the five Lusophone countries in Africa and Portugal as it was the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution. On April 25, 1974, a driven group of socially conscious military personnel initiated a movement that not only reinstated democracy, pluralism, and freedom in Portugal but also sought to end colonialism, granting independence to the five nations after a decade of anti-colonial wars. In less than a year, Portugal had signed independence agreements with these nations, ushering in a new era
Our sessions explored the critical themes of longevity, social shifts such as dual-career families, and the profound impact of AI and automation on our lives.
🔍 We discussed how evolving expectations from work are shaping a more balanced work design, emphasizing wellbeing support and diversity acceptance. The holistic view of work now integrates purpose with tasks and outcomes, fosters human connection within teams, and optimizes place, time, and rhythm for sustainable high performance.
💡 Innovation took center stage as we deliberated on the necessity of a flexible workforce to be a true "skills factory" — not just driving productivity but also fostering social innovation and sustainable delivery.
A huge thank you to Viktorija Proskurovska, Marius Osterfeld, Denis Pennel, Bo Krüger, Bettina Schaller, Anna Gurun and all the engaging speakers at the conference for their invaluable contributions and insights. Your dedication is shaping the future of work!
