The PGA of America brings in annual revenue of approximately $200 million a year. The CMAA and GCSAA bring in Annual Revenue of approximately $10 million a year. I don't notice any difference in how PGA of America Members are compensated and respected than the those two allied associations do you? My sources, which are about as high as you can get in the PGA of America, tell me the new president is afraid of upsetting the bureaucrats with too much change. There it is in a nutshell, the bureaucrats are running the PGA of America. Show some guts and say, enough is enough. We are creating a PGA of America (501 C 6) pension program exactly like the PGA Tour (501 C 6) with all the money we saved from getting rid of the bureaucrats.

I'm offering solution that PGA of America bureaucrats don't want to hear. Take the money away from the bureaucrats (PGA of America Officials, Administrators and Staff) except to conduct the PGA championship and Ryder Cup. Run a bare bones membership department and concession out the education department to a company that specializes in online education. Use all the money saved and give directly to PGA of America Members. Those members use the money to promote the game in their local communities to enhance their personal stature in the game of golf (rather than build the egos and resumes of PGA of America Officials, Administrators and Staff) Finally once and for all come up with way to give as much money as possible to PGA of America Members Retirement Programs. It took over 100 years to give $1,500 a year to a select few (a drop in the bucket) to some PGA of America Members (the owners of the PGA of America) How can PGA of America Bureaucrats stomach the fact that PGA of America Members are subsidizing soooooo much of the bill to promote the game of golf while the PGA Tour, USGA, CMAA, GCSAA, HFTP, LPGA, Dozens of private tours, thousands of profitable golf related businesses do next to nothing to help subsidize the game that has treated them so well. My question to PGA of America Bureaucrats, how do you and others justify taking advantage of PGA of America Members?

I encourage all of my fellow PGA professionals to complete the recent survey sent by the PGA of America pertaining to the benefits of being a PGA member. This survey takes a good amount of time fill out, but I think that it is worthwhile for a few reasons. First, and most importantly, it attempts to gauge our satisfaction as dues paying members in the areas that impact our careers and therefore our lives such as education, advocacy on our behalf by career consultants, and how our brand is perceived in the marketplace. Secondly, the survey is purposely neutral, meaning that without your participation it is likely the results will indicate everything is “fine”. And third, it is a better forum for expressing our opinions about the association we proudly represent than social media is. I travel throughout the Northeast and speak with golf professionals weekly from New Jersey to Maine, and throughout New York State and New England. While the outlook is more positive than ever about the game we love, the business of managing it has never been more difficult to navigate, and the disparity between facilities who are succeeding with full, qualified staffs and those that are on the outside looking in still doing more with less has never been more evident. The dedication, competitiveness, and focus that come with excelling in sports often translates directly into success in broking. Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Harrison Blake. It was clear from the very start, both to myself and Zoe Upson, that he had the potential to become an amazing broker. 𝗔 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻: ⚫️ Background in Super One British Karting 🏁 — Previously ranked Top 3 nationally. ⚫️ Golf handicap of 4 ⛳ (or so he claims! 😂) What impressed me the most during the process was Harrison's laser focus and determination. He turned down offers and declined some roles I presented, keeping his eye on exactly what he wanted: a broking role. At a recruitment day for this role, Harrison absolutely excelled. He showcased: 💥 Teamwork 💥 Quick thinking 💥 Problem solving 💥 And of course, that competitive edge every top broker needs. Harrison credits his background in sports, particularly karting, for sharpening these skills. And now, he’s ready to bring that same level of focus and drive to broking. But let's move past the blame game, the point score of wrongs and the disappointment. We now understand the combination of problem(s). Is it financial? Is it management? Is it decision making? Is it crowdsourcing of suggestions? Whatever it is, as a iTaukei and avid fan of the Flying Fijians, I wish to raise my hand and point out 'contract management'. We can't be relying solely and wholeheartedly on the goodwill of the people at FRU. As I've heard the expression "kaiViti levu na loloma lailai na dina". You must be able to negotiate before the contracts are signed. It's part of fair play which is based on the principles of fairness and justice. Then follow through as the powers, duties and responsibilities are performed. Attend to the due performance of the terms and conditions of the contract. Sports science is a discipline on its own. But contract management must be left to us who have donned a rugby jersey, put on a pair of rugby boots and understands the dynamics of rugby at professional level, with insurance involved, property, or promises not delivered, or non-disclosure clauses, sports endorsements, etc. Rugby in Viti has to develop.

Would a company employee be expected to invest part of their hard earned dollars (what their club pays them and their profits from the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup) to grow the company's business? NO Why are Club Golf Professionals expected to invest part of their hard earned dollars to grow the game of golf? Golf course Superintendents and GCSAA don't do it. Great education programs. Club Managers and CMAA don't do it. Great education programs. Club Controllers and HFTP don't do it. Great education programs. Club Membership Directors and MDA don't do it. Great education programs. Why are Club Golf Professionals and PGA of America expected to do it? Is it because the PGA of America has so much money and such a giant bureaucracy that it MUST feed the bureaucrats? Why not give the extra money to PGA of America Members? Let them use it to personally grow the game in their local community or improve their own personal lifestyle. Let the PGA of America Member decide how to spend his/her money.....not PGA of America bureaucrats and power hungry PGA of America officials and PGA of America administrators. Let organizations like the USGA, Golf Course Owners Association, PGA Tour. and local amateur bodies that represent local clubs promote the game. PGA Members do plenty at their home clubs and in their communities to promote the game. Many PGA Members work 6 and 7 days a week over 8 hours each day. Why are PGA Members footing the bill to grow the game?

A few weeks ago we hosted our annual Northland FCA Sports Camp at Bethel University with over 500 athletes in attendance. Not only did these athletes have the opportunity to grow in their sport, but also in their faith. Our theme for camp this year is 24/7. It says in Romans 15:13, "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." As a coach or athlete, it can feel as if the demands never stop. The training, practicing, planning and strategizing keep you hustling and operating at a pace that is difficult to thrive in. Although these things, in the right measure, are necessary to compete at a high level, the pace is not always sustainable. How do you handle the overwhelming demands of a "24/7" sports culture? There's no time to waste, right? Someone is always working harder, training longer, spending more hours watching game film, and prepping for the next game, race, meet or competition. The reality is that your life doesn't have to be overrun by the pressures to keep up and prove your worth. The pressures and stakes may always be high, but how you respond doesn't have to remain unchanged. The 24/7 "with God" life is available - you just have to slow down long enough to receive what He's ready to give you.
