Speed Training For Youth Athletes As we know with youth athletes Pre-PHV majority of their physical qualities is neural - therefore how can we build a large movement library both in the gym and on the field to utilise once the athlete undergoes maturation. For these athletes we want to look at: - Coordinative based movements - Constraints based coaching - Variability in drills - Jump and plyometric options - Fun and entertaining Here’s a look at some exercises in a session for a 9 year old who moves better than most 19 year olds! - Sprinters Lunge - Shin Dribbles - High Knees - Straight Leg Scissors - Wickets - Broad Jump #performance #athlete #speed
I think that we underestimate Pre-PHV how much of training translate into physiological differences. Neural musculaire interaction and the small brain limb coordination are not the most dominant results with youth athletes. As we can see in rapport by Dr. J Vis and the Olsen 2003 rapport. Where studies show a great deal of hormonal benefits to aid in muscle growth. Testosteron maybe is not yet a factor. But significant amounts of HGH and Insuline 2 are created as a result from overload training. Resulting in positive physical changes. Not so much in size but we can definitely see more strength and muscle fibres created per square inch with overload training. Aside from this it will benefit ligaments to not only strengthen but also have more sports related placement. Further more we can detect a higher bone mineral density among kids that for instance practice sports such as wrestling and gymnastics. The resistance within the character of the sport learns us to understand the benefits among youth athletes. As it provides a clear indication that resistance and overload training is way more beneficial for skeletal morphology. It is the only thing to condition the body into a desired balance , neurological & physiological
Not just for kids. Smaller doses with variations for ADULTS … IF we want to ‘get out & play’ in unpredictable environments (sports, recreation, adventure), ‘spring in our step’ AND the ability to ‘read, react & right’ are critical to staying UP. ✅ Coaches, we fill all 7S Functional Freedom Buckets, including …. 🪣#3, Gait Speed w/ Sprint-like Mechanics’ AND 🪣#5 SKILLS: Agility, Balance, Coordination, Power, Reaction, Speed. 👍🏔
Excellent work - great to see active young kids working on their mind / muscle connection 👌
Great posts jordi great to have kids doing proper training great job.
