It was great speaking at the ASEAN Sustainability Conference last month on the sidelines of Trade Expo Indonesia 2024, hosted by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia. I had the pleasure of participating in the panel "Net Zero Transition: Policy and Regulatory Frameworks for Achieving Net Zero in ASEAN" alongside Maria R Nindita Radyati, Ph.D, Dr. Robi Kurniawan, Pak Nyoman Iswarayoga, and our moderator Regina I. . Our discussion covered many dimensions of the #netzero transition in #ASEAN, including: 🌍 The opportunity for ASEAN countries to leverage the transition as an opportunity for #development and advanced industrialization by embedding themselves in supply chains for low-carbon products 🌳 The often overlooked importance of incorporating #biodiversity and natural ecosystem conservation considerations in ASEAN's journey to a net zero future 💰 How #carbon pricing regimes across the region can encourage adoption of low-carbon practices and present opportunities for enhanced regional cooperation; and 🤝 The role that international partnerships can play in accelerating ASEAN's #netzero journey, most critically through technology transfer and climate finance These discussions on #carbonpricing and #climatefinance are particularly timely given the negotiations on #Article6 and the New Collective Quantified Goal (#NCQG) on climate finance set to take place in Baku next week during #COP29. A big thank you to Christ Panogari Simanjuntak, Quentino Adzandra Junandar, Ignatia Endra Kristianti, and the entire ANGIN team for organizing this conference.
