Many of the #GenAI engagements that Microsoft for Startups is seeing is indeed through Innovation teams at Enterprises. ➡️ Support chatbots, with 31% enterprise adoption, offer reliable, 24/7, knowledge-based support for both internal employees and external customers. We have seen engagement with Quiq, SleekFlow, AUI™ (Augmented Intelligence), D-ID, DeepBrain AI ... ➡️ Enterprise search and retrieval (28%) and data extraction and transformation (27%) highlight a strong commitment to unlocking and utilizing valuable knowledge stored in organizational data silos. We are seeing a lot of interest in #Startups that are focused on making data available to LLMs like unstructured.io, Nimble , Dataloop AI, LangChain, Pinecone and Osmos ... ➡️ Agentic AI is indeed gaining a lot of interest and momentum with startups like AUI™ (Augmented Intelligence), Instalily AI, AI Sales Genio, Implement AI, Numorpho Cybernetic Systems (NUMO), Korvyn, SimpliContract, Coworked (Techstars '24), OneAdvisor.ai ... ➡️ The report indicates that when deciding to build or buy, companies reveal a near-even split: 47% of solutions are developed in-house, while 53% are sourced from vendors. We do see startups being used within the build process to accelerate or augment the work. ➡️ The report does not cover the #Retail and #CPG sectors where I specifically focus and have seen momentum with these #GenAI startups: Fashable, Haut.AI , Getbee, dSilo.AI, CIPIO.ai, Typeface, BRIA AI, SimpliContract, Harmonya, Omnistream, Indellia ... Rick Nucci, co-founder and CEO of Guru, discusses the current state of AI and its impact on the startup landscape in this YouTube video. What he says is just common sense for anyone involved: the tradicional startup play book has changed and will continue changing and very fast in the AI space. Big companies can even see AI as a threat to their business model, so the fight to “be” in the AI space as a startup is a continuous and very rapid almost daily challenge wile trying to maintain a stable business and trying to solve real customer problems through new products (products adapted to market, where the AI is increasingly important). So, Nucci (who also advertises his own solution) emphasises the need for adaptation to this new AI environment looking for sustainable growth. I recently read an article that got me pondering: do startups often get lured by the emerging technologies, believing it's the guaranteed path to capturing investors' interest? I wonder how much effort the startups have invested in customer discovery to address fundamental questions: "Am I genuinely solving the right problems? Am I delivering the value that my customers truly desire?" If a startup is grappling with these uncertainties, perhaps it's time to pivot and shift the focus from technology-centric approach to understanding real pain points and delivering tangible value to their customers.
