Getting to know our inspiration, Florence Nightingale. DID YOU KNOW? To many a wounded soldier, she was an angel with a lamp, an apparition gliding through the night bringing comfort and care. But to army brass, the British bureaucratic ranks, the all-male medical establishment, and Parliament, she was a headstrong maverick who put her convictions into action, held people above class, drove home her ideas with ironclad statistics, led the charge in healthcare innovation and hospital design, knew how to get things done and never ever took no for an answer. Now that's something to aspire to as we work to revolutionize lighting for healthcare spaces! https://lnkd.in/eqa8bi5w #hospitallighting #healthcarelighting #hospitals #patientappreciation #antimicrobial #ambulatorycare #florencenightingale #patientcentric #lightingdrivenbypurpose #healthcarelighting #patientroomlighting #surgicalsuitelighting #hospitallighting #examroomlighting #medicallighting #lightingforcarers

VA care is higher-quality, more culturally competent, more evidence-based, and more timely. Is Congress actively seeking to destroy an example of how well government can serve the people to prove a point or to enrich their cronies? Either way, this bodes ill for the millions of veterans who rely on VA's integrated system of care.

According to recent the future regional population shares show that Northern Virginia will be home to well over a third of the state’s residents (37% share or 3.4 million people), followed by the Richmond (18% or 1.64 million) and Hampton Roads (17% or 1.59 million) regions. This is also demonstrated by the rates of population change over the decade of 2020-2030, with Northern Virginia projected to grow by 11% while the non-metro areas are expected to shrink . The latest projections also highlight the shifting age composition in Virginia, with the statewide share of the older adult population (those aged 65 and above) showing continued growth from 12% in 2010, to 16% in 2020, to 19% in 2030 and beyond. The new partnership between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and United States Department of Defense aims to provide better access to healthcare for veterans in Virginia, which has one of the fastest growing veteran populations in the country. Key points: - The Hampton VA Medical Center currently has a 45-day wait to see a doctor, and the Portsmouth VA Clinic has a 2-month wait. This new clinic at Joint Base Langley-Eustis will help offset those delays. - Up to 10,000 veterans are expected to receive care at the base clinic each year. It will primarily serve veterans in the local area, but veterans across the state can also utilize the services. - In addition to routine medical care, the clinic will offer mental health counseling, specialty women's health services, and diagnostic lab tests. There will also be a separate dental clinic on the base. - This is part of the VA's broader efforts to form more partnerships with military installations to supplement the care provided at VA hospitals and clinics, which are often aging and in need of upgrades. - The new clinic opening is timely, as over 20,000 additional veterans across Virginia have enrolled in VA healthcare in the past year due to the PACT Act expanding benefits for those exposed to toxic substances. #VeteransAffairs #MilitaryHealth #VeteransServices #VeteranSupport #VeteranCare

Veterans have made great sacrifices for our country, and they deserve the best possible medical care and benefits. That's why veterans advocates are urging for a substantial increase in funding for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) next year. The White House has proposed a record-breaking budget of $270 billion for the department next year, with a focus on medical care. However, increased funding is necessary to address shortages of mental health care professionals and meet the rising demand for dental care and long-term care. The Independent Budget report emphasizes the need for continued investment in VA programs to ensure uninterrupted care and benefits for veterans and their families. Let's support our veterans by advocating for adequate VA funding. #Veterans #VAfunding #SupportOurVeterans #MedicalCare #MentalHealthCare
