https://lnkd.in/gEReFNap Tampa Bay has professional hockey, football, and baseball teams..The Tampa Bay Rays came into MLB in 1998 and was in similar situation as the Colts football team..A venue was built before a team got there..The Tropicana Dome in Tampa Bay was built in 1992 and was in hopes to get a MLB team..The Hoosier/RCA Dome in Indianapolis, IN was built in 1983, and the Colts moved from Baltimore to Indianapolis in 1984..Anyway, the Rays played in 2008 and 2020 World Series but have always struggled with fan attendance numbers since they began in 1998..Would a venue that is built like a baseball ballpark change that..The Tropicana Dome is built more like a multi-purpose stadium..Tampa Bay is near to a lot of beaches like Siesta Key or Clearwater Beaches and is marketable area to tourists..Tampa Bay has hosted multiple Super Bowls, WrestleMania, and NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Final Fours the last 35 years..However, Tampa Bay has never marketed or publicized the Tampa Bay Rays well.. 🧢 ⚾ 📉 💺 🏖 🏢 🏟 🏙 📰 #marketing #publicrelations #eventmanagement #facilitymanagement #hospitality #sportbusiness

Interesting read on the state of minor league baseball stadiums across the country. My oldest son is the Director of Ticketing for the Emeralds so I have a vested interest in seeing the team stay in Eugene. Minor league baseball is the purest representation of Americana in these smaller towns and to see that possibly change would be disheartening. Cities like Eugene hopefully understand that investments in these types of infrastructure projects, while spendy, have enormous payoffs in the future. Go EMs !!

The Mechanics of Building Championship Teams is largely the same across sports. The Minnesota Timberwolves are 8-9 after losing at Home against the surging Houston Rockets. While there are many reasons for the Wolves inconsistent start, the Biggest Reason is a Combination of Poor Player Integrations and Bad Rotations. Unlike Most Teams, the Timberwolves have two essential components of a Top Team. One, they have High Quality Players. Two, they have Depth. But as we learn over and over in Professional Sports even that’s not enough. That said, in my opinion the Timberwolves should be Playing a 9 or 10 Man Rotation. But that Rotation requires a combination of Structure, Organization, and Clarity. Mainly, the Wolves need clarity around the Primary Initiator. While it is valuable to have Multiple Ball Handlers, it can sometimes be problematic to have too many. It’s one of the many reasons why the Wolves have a High Turnover Rate. Finally, while the Wolves have a Set Starting Lineup the Bench and the Rotation needs to be different. The Bench needs to be, PG: Rob Dillingham SG: Donte DiVincenzo SF: Nickeil Walker Alexander PF: Josh Minott C: Naz Reid 1. When Mike Conley Exits, Rob Dillingham Enters. 2. When Anthony Edwards Exits, Donte DiVincenzo Enters. 3. When Jaden McDaniels, NAW Enters. 4. When Julius Randle Exits, Naz Reid Enters. 5. When Rudy Gobert Exits, Naz Reid Enters. 6. My Detroit Tigers are on an improbable playoff run with a comically small payroll of less than $20M...for the entire team! For context, a single MLB superstar typically makes double that. If you haven’t tuned in yet (or don’t care to - I get it, baseball can still be slow), this story is compelling for two reasons: 1. A young, relatively unknown team that’s peaking at just the right time. 2. Manager AJ Hinch is a mastermind, using creative, analytics-driven strategies to put his players in the best possible situations to succeed. His approach is bound to influence how the game is played in the future. These Tigers represent the best of Detroit: making the absolute most of what you’ve got. Plus, analytics help. In the last week both the hockey and the basketball seasons ended. That leaves only baseball for North American team sports enthusiasts, at least until the Olympics begin in late July. Did you know that the Atlanta Braves are publicly-traded, that anyone can "own a piece" of the team? Right now, however, I'd say you would be Brave to do so. Interestingly, the company is based in Colorado, not Atlanta. The problem with analyzing a sports franchise is that the operational side of the business is invariably intertwined with its real estate holdings, and the latter often has low or even negative contributions to overall earnings. Real estate holdings are often an asset play rather than one held for operational earnings. For the record, Atlanta Braves Holding Inc. is expected to earn 32¢ for the quarter ended June 30, (okay, I'll say it: that's just a ballpark figure) although it hasn't been stellar in meeting its earnings expectations, over the last few years.
