That is so cool, it's always nice to see when developers like Jon Wingrove go the extra mile. The breakdown of how you achieved this was super ineresting to see. Always great when audio isn't an afterthought but fully integrated within the project.
Love it - this is a great approach! It's the kind of thing that's only obvious in hindsight - MIDI is the perfect fit for this!
