Its always humbling to be given the mantle of leadership. As much as you learn about those in your charge, you learn more about yourself during that period as a leader. I was asked to be the President of our club the first time around; I was new and raw to the role. The second time, I volunteered to be the President when there was no one to take it up. Each opportunity had its own set of challenges, triumphs and tribulations. If I could share 3 lessons I learnt it would be:
1. Be humble. Leadership is not just a title; it’s an office of trust. Your team puts their trust in you to do the right thing and to be there for them.
2. Be grounded. Be rooted in the values of character. The deeper your roots, the easier it is to withstand the pressures and to stand firm in your truth.
3. Make a difference. Envision something better than what it is now. Lead people to be better today than they were yesterday.
Three words that my former Boss and mentor P Sridharan taught me; whatever you do, do it with Dedication, Determination and Devotion. #leadwellleadright #saysomething
