This was my story for decades … Around 3:00 PM, I’d get hungry. I’d try to be mindful … I’d plan for it … take a midafternoon snack to work. Apple and almonds. Hummus and carrots. 🍎🥜🥕 But by the time I got home, I was ravenous. I’d throw open the fridge, the cupboards, and grab whatever caught my eye. 🦁🐺🐻 Thus began my daily downward spiral. Even with a healthy dinner, it felt like I spent the rest of the evening trying to answer that gripping afternoon hunger. My body WANTED something but nothing seemed to be the match. When I say this went on for decades, I’m not kidding. Like, from my early 20s until I turned 60. 🗓️🗓️🗓️🗓️ That year, I was introduced to a dense nutrition drink called Shakeology. My initial reaction was, “🙅No thanks. I like to eat my food.” When I finally gave it a try my body said, THIS!! THIS is what we’ve been asking for!” I felt full and satisfied … and lived happily ever after. 😃 Seriously, I have my Shakeo pretty much every day. I miss it when I don’t. Feel out of control around food or at least certain foods? That's partly because you're thinking that you don't have control. And maybe right now, you strongly believe you don't. But how does that make you feel and is it helping you be in control? I'm guessing it doesn't make you feel good. Nor does it make you actually be in control around food. So, what if we changed that to a new thought. Answer this: Do you think it's POSSIBLE you can be in control around food? If you're still thinking no, then think about a time you WERE in control around food. I bet you really do believe it's possible. Thinking about that possibility will make you feel a little better. What 2 eating habits could you improve on this week? Now lots of us would straight away think about what we aren't going to eat this week but this is setting us up to fail! You need to say and write down what you are going to eat and not mention what you are going to reduce. Why? Try this... I'm not going to eat any delicious gooey chocolate brownies my daughter made this week! What image popped straight into your head, YES a brownie. So we want to be thinking about delicious colourful, nourishing food and meals instead. One's that will help us reach our happy weight goals. Middle lane leadership, performance, goals, and life. Just cruzing along in the middle lane of life. Nothing is going horrible, nothing is going excellent, things are just going.
