Cleaning out and recycling all my old physical media (over 17 lbs worth) and decided to see how much the density has improved over time... Of course Mb/g gives lots of opportunities to mix up the units. Since all of the media isn't completely full, everything will fit easily on a 256Gb flash drive. #media #recycling
I am very impressed you still had 8" floppy disks. I got rid of all my 256K 8" floppy disks sometime in the 1990s when Apple made the 3 1/2" disks the new standard. I retained my 5 1/4" floppies however so I could boot my Osborne and Compaq luggable.
You should line up some of those hard drives and thumb drives you have. A memory card lineup would be fun too.
LUXURY! I have about 20 banker boxes FILLED with cd. My guess is more like 100kg
Some years ago I found a kit to connect a floppy disk drive to a Mac with a USB cable, and a device driver. Found some editorial columns I wrote for the Daily Nebraskan, some poems, and a few college papers that had been stranded on those old disks. Fun times!
You are not alone John Townes . I have been thinning the herd for a while myself.
The time continuum perspective!
Not surprised to see this John!
