Job Search Struggles I joined LinkedIn on April 5th, 2024, and since then, I've been inundated with 'Big companies are hiring' posts. But where do our resumes go? It's as if they vanish into thin air. Six months into my job search, I've faced rejection after rejection. I'm willing to restart at a lower salary, but no calls come. I'm 44, but age is just a number. My passion to work remains. With layoffs looming and AI transforming the job landscape, uncertainty reigns. I've been trying out AI in the job application process and here's what i've learned: For 4 months, I've used a site that auto-applies for jobs based on your resume and the criteria you set. It has auto-applied to 255 jobs over the past couple of months. Guess how many interviews I've gotten? 1.....1 interview for a job in Switzerland...that was on-site. The percentage success rate is so bad that either: 1. My resume is so bad and I'm extremely unqualified. 2. The volume of other applicants is extremely high 3. The job application process isn't working. So, is there any use for a site like this? Actually yes. Even though the application success rate is awful, here's how I've used it: -For the jobs that it lists that my skills and experience match, I will try and reach out to an actual human at the company. I get a much better response rate and many times, they'll talk to me even though I've either already gotten rejected or haven't yet auto applied. As a working parent, it can be a useful tool when you are too busy to search for leads and it's at least putting you in the lotterycause you gotta be in it to win it. #tuesdaythoughts #jobs #linkedinjobs #genai #layoffs #workingparent #coaching
