I normally post about Snowflake. But here’s a hello from the beautiful English coastal town of Sheringham where most of the residents get dressed up in 1940s gear for the weekend.
I’m memory of Thomas Lawlor, DFC, BA. Headmaster of a rough inner-city Liverpool school who had faith that a 16 year old from a working class “scouse” family could get all the way to university.
Here’s to you, and the teachers, educators and headmasters who inspire their students to have a go.

I forgot to say, the DFC stands for “Distinguished Flying Cross”. Thomas Lawler flew multiple sorties in the RAF and against all odds survived to tell the tale.

As I prepare for my Guided Math Presentation, this quote from the book “Driven By Data 2.0” really resonated with me. It’s so important that teachers have an instructional roadmap on how to reteach and what to reteach. Backwards planning and constant assessment of the standards are crucial in order to target the need.

📢 🚀 Excel Tutorial: Simple Date & Time Math 🚀
Hey LinkedIn community! 👋
Are you ready to level up your Excel skills? 📊 In today’s tutorial, I’ll Walk you through some simple date and time math in Excel. Whether you’re a beginner or just need a quick refresher, this video will help you become an Excel wizard! 🧙♂️
📅 1. Adding and Subtracting Dates:
Let’s say you have two dates: June 15, 2024 and July 10, 2024. How do you find the number of days between them? 🤔
Use the formula: =End Date - Start Date
For our example: =July 10, 2024 - June 15, 2024 gives you the result in days.
Pro Tip: You can also add/subtract months or years using similar logic!
⏰ 2. Time Calculations:
Suppose you’re tracking project hours. You have start time (9:00 AM) and end time (5:30 PM). How many hours did the project take? ⏱️
Use the formula: =End Time - Start Time
For our example: =5:30 PM - 9:00 AM gives you the duration in hours.
Pro Tip: Excel handles time as fractions of a day, so you can perform calculations seamlessly!
🗓️ 3. The DATE Function:
The DATE(year, month, day) function creates a date value.
Example: =DATE(2024, 5, 20) gives you May 20, 2024.
Pro Tip: Combine DATE with other functions for powerful results!
