Today, we filed a registration statement on Form S-3 to register shares of Grayscale Ethereum Trust (OTCQX: ETHE) under the Securities Act of 1933. This is another important step toward uplisting ETHE as an ETF*. We’re proud to be working to bring the 2nd largest crypto asset by market cap even further into the U.S. regulatory perimeter. ETHE is not registered under the 1940 Act and is not subject to regulation under the 1940 Act, unlike most mutual funds or ETFs.

This is yet another example of the US falling behind other countries. While the SEC lags in ETF approvals, VanEck is able to excel in Europe and offer staking from its ETN product. BlackRock has just entered the Real-World Assets (RWA) sector. And has thus begun to implement its vision of tokenizing the world's assets. Together with the tokenization platform Securitize, the world's largest asset manager launched the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) - its first ever tokenized money market fund. Interestingly, the blockchain of choice wasn't some private or high-throughput network but the Ethereum Mainnet itself - something that surely can be attributed to the network's liquidity and security. With a current fund size of around $110 million, BUIDL is already the third largest product of its kind, right after the products provided by Franklin Templeton and the Mountain Protocol. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐔𝐈𝐃𝐋 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤? ▶ First of all, the fund is backed by a mix of cash reserves, US treasuries and repurchase agreements (repos). ▶ Whitelisted investors initially need to contribute at least $5 million to invest, with plans to lower the minimum investment to $100,000 over time. ▶ In exchange, they receive BUIDL tokens for trading with other whitelisted investors. ▶ Similar to a stablecoin, the value of these tokens aims to be pegged to one US dollar, with BUIDL holders earning returns from the fund through daily token distributions. Now, some might wonder about the purpose behind all of this. The reasons are the benefits that come with tokenization. • 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲: Right now, the settlement of traditional securities transactions takes up to two days, resulting in higher opportunity costs. Instant settlement on blockchain rails fixes this. • 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The programmability of tokenized assets allows for the automation of certain workflows, thereby reducing costs significantly. • 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Currently, only accredited investors have the privilege to invest in BlackRock's BUIDL. However, tokenized products broadly hold the potential to open up access to something like treasury yields for a diverse new pool of investors, particularly those outside the US. 𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 The success of this initiative might set the stage for a significant transformation in the digital assets markets, encouraging additional funds to follow suit and further accelerate the tokenization of the world's assets. According to a Bloomberg report, at least several issuers are already working on launching their products on ASX, including BetaShares, VanEck, and DigitalX. However, a specific timeline for the approval of spot crypto ETFs is yet to be clarified, as a spokesperson for ASX said the exchange is still engaged with multiple issuers on the matter. Founded in 1987, ASX has an average daily turnover of AUD 4.685 billion ($3 billion) and a market capitalization of around AUD 2.6 trillion ($1.7 trillion), making it one of the world’s top 20 listed exchange groups, and the largest in the southern hemisphere.

BlackRock's $BUIDL Fund has now surpassed $500 million in tokenized treasuries 💰 While the crypto market struggles, BlackRock's $BUIDL fund, operating on the Ethereum network, continues to attract new investors. The fund has reached a $500 million market cap — making it the first tokenized treasury fund to reach the milestone The fund requires a minimum entry of $5 million, and its total assets have now reached $502 million in less than 4 months. It is now the treasury product with the highest total assets under management, followed by Franklin Templeton's $FOBXX at $400 million, and Ondo's $USDY at $281 million. $BUIDL currently has 16 holders, as compared to $FOBXX's 444 & $USDY's 3992 holders. Some of the notable holders include : 1/ Ondo : Invested in BUIDL to speed up settlement times for it's customers. 2/ Circle : A stablecoin issuer that implemented smart contract support for BUIDL holders.
