How biblical is your concept of Jesus Christ? If your understanding of Him is not being shaped by the Old Testament as well as the New Testament, then I’m afraid you might have a misconception of the Messiah. Psalm 110 is the most quoted Psalm in the entire New Testament. Taking time to study this Psalm makes it unmistakably clear why this is the case. If Jesus Christ is the consummate focal point of the New Testament, then it makes sense for the most quoted Psalm to be robustly Christocentric! The Messiah is exalted throughout this Psalm. In its short seven verses: —God the Father declares the kingly position of God the Son. —God the Father swears by oath Jesus is the eternal priest. —As a victorious and triumphant warrior, Jesus judges His enemies, shattering kings and chiefs, filling the nations with corpses. Understanding Psalm 110’s Messianic King, Priest, and Judge gives us a profound grasp of who Jesus is, and a profound grasp of why the gospel is such Good News! God created me for His worship. But instead I worshiped myself, and the things of this world. I know I deserve to be shattered like His enemies. But for this condemned sinner the Messianic King, Priest, and Judge would perfectly accomplish what was needed so that I would be made right with the thrice-holy God… —The exalted King became a lowly and humble servant. —The eternal Priest became the slaughtered Lamb of sacrifice. —The righteous Judge became the one condemned and sentenced to death. Is this the Jesus you know? May this sermon help you to see this Jesus of the Bible more clearly. May this sermon encourage you to see Christ on every page of Scripture. And may this sermon drive you to grasp why Christ alone is worthy of our worship. https://lnkd.in/gmfnqcRe
