One of the tasks I've been involved with - and very proud of - over the last year or two is the World Gold Council's support for the work explained in the short video (https://lnkd.in/ecHFFwJa), below. This 2-minute film introduces the work of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in progressing potentially important research to accelerate the development of gold-based catalysts to convert captured CO2 into ‘syngas’ – a key building block for new fuels and materials. Although only minuscule volumes of gold are used in such applications, science tells us it is the best material for this purpose. And this project is another reminder of gold’s significance in catalysing positive change, advancing our knowledge and capacity to contribute to advanced technologies, including those with the potential to accelerate decarbonisation. The underlying science was first featured in our The Golden Thread documentary series https://lnkd.in/eCi_AiEW) but, since that was released, we have now built a strong collaborative relationship with the team at the NRC, and it has been a pleasure and privilege to work with them as they strive to develop this application and how such research is practiced.

My paper together with Yijing Wang and Jia Ding about Spillover Crises in China was accepted for the ANZMAC conference which takes place in Hobart, Tasmania in early December. It is great to see the interest in our work on Spillover Crises, which builds on previous articles we published on the topic in Public Relations Review (https://lnkd.in/gPQnyawY and https://lnkd.in/dYha8CnZ) and in Business Horizons (https://lnkd.in/g3A-W3T) I look forward to attending this leading conference to discuss our recent empirical work on spillover crises from data collected in China. #spillovercrises #crisiscommunication #crisismanagement #china #anzmac2024

An interesting view on ethical AI use policies and a necessary understanding for African Scholarship: "Ethical AI use policies in general give us the principles conceptually and sometimes useful checklists, but we need more practical and discipline specific examples of how to deal with AI technologies in scientific argumentation." Here is our opportunity to particularize AI literacy for the African region. https://lnkd.in/exDDHWUm #FosteringExcellenceInAfricanScholarship
