"By simply automating administrative tasks, we have more time to do more important things. More time to spend with our customers, or have conversations with each other about what the payroll value proposition is. And that comes from leveraging information technology available today at our fingertips, that helps us to do things better, and saves us time." Jaco van der Merwe hits the nail on the head when it comes to a classic discussion in the #payroll industry: the role of technology, and whether it can put payroll professionals' jobs at risk. When we talk about incorporating #tech into payroll workflows, we are not talking about eliminating the need for people. What we are talking about is how to facilitate their jobs. To make them more efficient. And most of all, a way to ensure payroll professionals have the time they need to focus on those aspects of the function that can really bring value to the business. Technology cannot replace payroll professionals. But it should be an enabler to amplify people's competencies and the scope of the contributions they can make to the business. Thoughts on this?
