Today, in one of the classes of Deepening Knowledge in Physical Education and Sports (APS), the teacher spoke about the importance of prior practice in the sports activity they are teaching. One of the key points that stuck in my mind was: The teacher's practice of the sport they are teaching is a fundamental factor in improving the quality of sports education. Personal experience in practicing the sport provides the teacher with a deeper understanding of the techniques and basic movements, in addition to developing the ability to sense the challenges that learners may face during training. When a teacher is a practitioner of the sport, they are able to provide real-life examples and accurate practical guidance, making it easier for students to grasp and apply the sports concepts effectively. Moreover, the teacher's personal engagement with the sport builds the students' trust in them as a reliable source of information and practical advice. Nevertheless, a teacher can teach any sport if they have the necessary knowledge and teaching methods. However, if the teacher has practiced the sport themselves, it adds an undeniable impact to the teaching process, facilitating clearer and more accurate communication of the information.

Excited to share that my first PhD article, titled "Power, discourse, and practice: exploring athlete development as an educational discursive practice in a Norwegian lower secondary sports school", has been published in the Sport, Education and Society journal! Together with Christian Thue Bjørndal and Jens Christian Nielsen, we have explored the ideal of developing responsible athletes within the confines of a lower secondary sports school. In this specific context, learning to assume responsibility for personal development manifests in two nuanced ways: 🔍The first pertains to a commitment to high-quality training, strongly influenced by norms related to training efficiency and control over training load. 🔍The second involves a process of self-empowerment and understanding of what best promotes personal development, thereby facilitating independent operation through self-regulation. ⚖️A key takeaway is that the process of developing responsible athletes is ambiguous. While it's generally assumed to provide only positive outcomes, we argue that it could also lead to increased self-monitoring tendencies in young athletes because the ideal of responsibility can never fully be reached. DEALING WITH SELF You make life choices. I have made choices of my free will from my youth, even today. The same is true for you. You make decisions on your own free will. Some setbacks resulted from my lack of discipline as a youth or early adult. Many of the next generation, particularly the learning age group in this nation, are primarily influenced by the sporting code - Rugby League. RL is a good sport, but the NRL market is closed to PNGRL players. Facts about NRL are right in front of us. The point is that a low number of PNGRL players convert to a contract in the NRL. It is a lucrative market, and for many reasons, NRL has never, and will not, converted many PNG RL players to NRL contracts. Justin Olam is a very unique. So, if you are a youth reading this, you cannot blame everyone else when you are undisciplined, even if you are brilliant. If you keep failing your subjects in college or university or need help maintaining consistency in your endeavours, take responsibility for your undisciplined behaviour. In a few years, you will turn 25 or 30, when you are expected to make a solid start to your career with a college degree. If you commit prime learning years from 16 - 30 following RL, if you read this, imagine the type of career that will be waiting for after you turn 30. By then, RL had taken up much of your study life, and you had not even finished a college degree. I want the youth and the next generation not to blame the government. What are you doing to prepare yourself when you turn 25 and over?
