Read this op-ed by 4 star general retired Stanley McCrystal who led our armed forces in Afghanistan and was highly respected among Dems and GOP. As a conservative independent, he believes this isnt an election about high profile issues like abortion or guns. He like some of you do not like many of the Democratic policies presented in this election season. In his own words… “Character is the ultimate measure of leadership for those who seek the highest office in our land. The American revolutionary Thomas Paine is said to have written, “Reputation is what men and women think of us; character is what God and angels know of us.” Regardless of what a person says, character is ultimately laid bare in his or her actions. So I pay attention to what a leader does. History has shown us that the office of the presidency unfailingly reveals the occupant’s character. Moments of disappointment and crisis — like Jimmy Carter’s acceptance of responsibility for the failed 1980 Iran hostage rescue mission, John F. Kennedy’s navigation of the terrifying 13-day confrontation over Soviet missiles in Cuba and Abraham Lincoln’s courageous issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation — said little about policy but much about character. To turn a blind eye toward or make excuses for weak character from someone we propose to confer awesome power and responsibility on is to abrogate our role as citizens. We will get — and deserve — what we elect. I’ve thought deeply about my choice and considered what I’ve seen and heard and what I owe my three granddaughters. I’ve concluded that it isn’t political slogans or cultural tribalism; it is the best president my vote might help select. In the face of adversity, Donald Trump keeps going. It is like he spit out bullets. The Republican National Convention is happening, and if you had to have a team behind you, I could not want a better team than some of the people representing the Republican party. JD Vance, who has a great underdog story, was chosen as his Vice Presidential pick. His beautiful, Intelligent, Indian American wife, a lawyer, will be on his side. He was a venture capitalist and corporate lawyer; he brings the Rust Belt and his understanding of what it's like to grow up without a silver spoon in your mouth. We saw Vivek Ramaswamy give a great speech. Governor Ron DeSantis brought his intelligence and passion out of Florida. Majorie Taylor Green, Kristi Noem, Ben Carson, Nicky Haley, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Lara Trump, Byron Donalds, Charlie Kirk, Matt Brooks ...even Amber Rose. ... I could go on and on with all the great people from all states and different ethnic backgrounds. ( I left many out, not intentionally) The Republican Party is a party of inclusion. I will miss serving the American people in this capacity. However, I look forward to continuing my service and always standing up for the values instilled in me at a young age—fairness, family, and freedom. To those disappointed by the election outcome, I say this: Focus on building up the community and the local-level leaders in and out of government. Take the time you need to take care of yourself. Then dust yourself off and keep fighting for a better tomorrow. Don't become cynical or tune out activism. I think it's pretty simple: the American people voted for lower prices, a secure and orderly process at our borders, and accountability in crime. We can forever argue that things are improving, but perception is reality. It is incumbent upon the new administration to not overreach and damage the progress made. If they do, we have another election in 2026 and 2028. Telling anyone who voted against us, "You deserve this," does us no good. You don’t win a winning majority by pushing the voters further away. Instead, we say, "You gave him (them) a chance; they betrayed you." Then, we must be prepared to tell our story, our why, and our vision. Instead of defending a system that has been rejected, we need to articulate the vision of what kind of democracy comes next.

He wants our country to either be destroyed or he wants to pick up those people as voters. And I don’t think – we just can’t let it happen. If he wins this election, our country doesn’t have a chance. Not even a chance of coming out of this rut. We probably won’t have a country left anymore. That’s how bad it is.
