"What topics should we focus on for our media thought leadership campaign?" You might think this is a straightforward question for most companies, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. In my experience, many B2B companies fail to achieve the success they envisioned with their thought leadership campaigns because, at the outset, they either haven't been laser-focused on the topics they want to own or have made conscious decisions that ultimately proved to be wrong." At Detavernier Strategic Communication, we help companies choose the topics to focus on in their campaigns using a Venn diagram with three circles (one of those circles nested within another). The topics we recommend our clients focus on are those that: - They have credible expertise in, based on the services or products they deliver - Are trending in the media their buyer personas consume - Relate to strategic areas of growth We have produced a short note that explains this model in more detail. To access the note, just click on the link shared in the first comment. Enjoy the read! #B2Bmarketing #publicrelations

When you hear “thought leadership” what comes to mind? I usually think of “expert,” “displaying knowledge” or “outlining the steps you took to reach success.” After reading LinkedIn and Edelman’s 6th Annual B2B Thought Leadership Impact Report I now have a few more answers to that question. ` 1. Great thought leadership should prompt the intended audience to rethink their challenges and the solutions to resolve them. 2. Thought leadership is both a customer acquisition and retention strategy. 3. Thought leadership provides a unique opportunity to consistently share actionable and credible insights to build trust with customers. Thought leadership is a big item on the 2025 agenda for many teams... but most of it is going to vanish into the void - or have little to no impact. Trends, communications, and every number in a business decision is driven by the human aspect. Throughout the last decade, businesses have understood this, especially B2B companies. Unsurprisingly, 73% of decision-makers find thought leadership content more trustworthy than other marketing materials. (Source: 2024 LinkedIn and Edelman B2B Thought Leadership Impact Report) Leadership content has become anecdotal and brand voices have become more connected. People trust people, and that’s why we’re seeing B2B companies on LinkedIn humanising their brands by amplifying executive and employee voices on the platform. I see the same trend echoed in the custom content partnerships exclusively created by Bloomberg Media Studios across the nine Bloomberg Media platforms. So even if operations become AI-driven, marketing will ensure that businesses always continue to be human. #business #brandvoice #marketing #humanizeyourmarketing #JustSaying
