It's the push-push attitude that defines a solid salesperson. Some of us thrive in rough and rugged terrains, closing deals - that's what we're hired to do. #Sales #ClosingDeals #Persistence

Great convo from Lenny's pod on how to find the right early sales hires once you find product-market fit (startup or new team within a bigger org). Some notes below: 1. Hire ppl you would actually want to buy from 2. Treat hiring as a sales funnel. you want to start with at least 30 interviews which will likely lead to 20 average discussions, 8 above average ones, and then the 2 rockstar candidates who become your foundational sales hires 2a. Avoid hiring a VP before you have at least 2 ICs in place. VP hire is meant to help go from 2 to 10, 10 to 20, etc. 3. In interviews for VP level positions and up, some red flags include the candidate mentioning their first 30 days being around: "getting to know the process", "setting up a CRM", and anything else related to "processes". You want someone who is willing to hit the ground running and carry the bag with your team + be on the front lines! #hiring #saleshiring
