Topic of how to retain credit card data has always interested me, and clients have numerous questions about what is the right amount of data to retain. Is it always the first 6 and last 4 that are safe for retention? According to the PCI DSS article, it states that only the first 8 and any other 4 are secure. With BIN expanding to 8 digits, could this impact your business to retain the correct data securely without violating PCI rules. Stay informed and protect payment data with the PCI Security Standards Council's industry-driven security standards, training, and programs. #PCIDSS #SecurityStandards #PaymentDataProtection Thoughts or comments around: [Link to PCI DSS article on acceptable formats for truncation of primary account numbers](https://lnkd.in/ghR4UXUc)

💳 Wondering What PCI PIN Is? Here's a Quick Explanation! 💡 🔒 What is PCI PIN? PCI PIN stands for Payment Card Industry Personal Identification Number. It's a security standard developed by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) to protect personal identification numbers (PINs) used in debit and credit card transactions. 🛡️ Why is it Important? PCI PIN ensures that sensitive information, like your PIN, is encrypted and securely transmitted during card-present transactions. This helps prevent unauthorized access and fraudulent activities, providing peace of mind for both consumers and businesses. 🔑 Key Features: Encryption: PCI PIN mandates strong encryption algorithms to protect PIN data from unauthorized access or tampering. Secure Transmission: It ensures secure transmission of PIN data between the point of sale (POS) terminal and the payment processor. Compliance: Compliance with PCI PIN standards is mandatory for all entities involved in processing card transactions to maintain a secure payment environment. 🔍 Who Needs to Know? If you're involved in the payment industry, whether as a merchant, financial institution, or service provider, understanding PCI PIN requirements is crucial for ensuring compliance and maintaining the security of cardholder data.
