Companies like LinkedIn should not demand you download their app to become verified. First, I spent a lot of time and money on my computer. I do not like it when a company demands I put a piece of their software I carry with me everywhere, possibly tracking me, maybe even recording me. My phone most of the time does not leave my desk. I will not put your app on my phone, nor should ANY company demand I do so to further my progress. LinkedIn, please find another way of verification, because I do not trust you (or anyone else) will do the right thing with my data. My privacy is not for sale. Again, please find another way.

FB is for old people. So says the millennials 😭 Perhaps that is why we often read about older people being scammed? What about chat apps then? Both young and old people are using them. Is age the factor that determines if one gets scammed. Perhaps. Perhaps these other factors play a part too: 1. Ignorance 2. Greed There's a saying about ignorance is bliss. But is it? In these days of technology advancement, ignorance is a risk. Technology allows one to keep abreast of current developments. It also enables one to keep learning. But choose your source of information and learning wisely. There is also a saying that high gain, high risk. There is no risk-less investment. All kinds of investments has risk. Even government bonds. Hence, when one decides to make an investment, one is taking up risk that they won't see their money. If one is not prepared to part with their money, don't invest. Otherwise ask yourself how much you're willing to lose and invest based on that appetite level. https://lnkd.in/g2MHCs_P

🏫💻🌐 As education continues to evolve in our digital world, the choice of an online school payment system has become pivotal to the seamless operation of educational institutions. 🎓💳 The latest trends underscore the need for systems that are not only secure and reliable but also user-friendly for both parents and administrators alike. Here are a few insights I've observed: 👉 Customisation: Institutions are leaning towards payment solutions that can be tailored to their unique requirements - from tuition fees to fundraising initiatives. 👉 Mobile optimisation: With the prevalence of smartphones, parents expect to manage payments on the go. A mobile-friendly platform is no longer a luxury; it's a necessity. 👉 Integrated solutions: Systems that integrate with existing school management software ensure a cohesive and smooth operational experience. 👉 Compliance and security: In an age where data breaches are all too common, stringent security measures and compliance with payment industry standards are non-negotiable. 👉 Multiple payment options: Offering a variety of payment methods, including credit/debit cards, bank transfers, and digital wallets, caters to the diverse preferences of the school community. 👉 Transparent reporting: Real-time reporting features that allow for easy tracking and reconciliation of payments are helping schools to better manage their finances. 💡 As the landscape continues to shift, it's clear that flexibility and adaptability in payment systems are key to meeting the changing needs of educators, parents, and students. 📢 Now it's your turn! What features do you think are most important in an online school payment system? Are there particular trends or technologies you see shaping the future of school payments? Share your thoughts below and let's discuss how we can create better financial experiences within our education systems. #OnlineSchoolPayments #EdTech #DigitalTransformation #PaymentSolutions #SchoolFinance #EducationalTechnology #ParentEngagement #CyberSecurity #MobilePayments You can check out Tucasi's easy, secure online payments system for schools at: https://lnkd.in/eG2ZaEFh

Dear Startup Founder, Are you confident that your app is compliant with data privacy laws? Do you have a policy on how customer data is collected, used and protected? Has your app been audited for compliance with data privacy laws? If your answer to the questions above is "no" I must tell you that you are on the verge of landing in a huge legal mess that you are definitely not equipped to handle. It's time to take action by embracing compliance. To avoid legal sanction, take the steps below; 1. Have a comprehensive privacy policy. 2. Ensure that your app has a term of service for its users. 3. Ensure that the app is equipped to get the consent of your users to collect and process their data. 4. Put adequate security measures in place to prevent data breach. Did you find this helpful? If yes, share this post with startup founders and web developers that you know. Don't forget to click the like button 😉. Happy weekend! #DataPrivacy #AppSecurity #ConsumerRights

One of the biggest errors of last year was signing up to the Nextdoor app. Instead of community updates, I was met with local government political conspiracies, national political propaganda, "If this makes me racist then I am a racist" posts.... I just wanted to find out about local bake sales. Today, someone commented about a neighbour who was on government benefits but was working for cash. The poster saw the fraudulent concerns and raised it to the wider community without naming the individual. What followed were responses such as: 😕 Mind your own business. 😕 Don't be a snitch. 😕 Call the police and don't waste our time. 😕 Everyone is allowed to make money on the side. 😕 What a horrible man you are to raise this. I don't know the ins and outs of the matter, nor do I understand the benefits system in depth. But it appears the community (vocal minority perhaps) have a different view about speaking up, ethics, and on potential fraud, than I do. No wonder ethics, compliance and risk management is a uphill struggle.

Let's talk about Social Engineering (SE) 😊. * Simply put, SE is tricking human beings into performing unintentional actions. * Some simple descriptive tricking methods the scammers use include: - Telling lies or faking narratives/scenarios that seem to be true, to exploit emotions. - Making promises that are too good to be true. - Giving free electronic gifts (USB, tablets, phones etc) as a return for performing certain simple activities. - Availing free USB charging ports in strategic locations. - Giving supports that appear too effortless to be deserving, to gain familiarity and trust. - Availing free WiFi or use of similar authentic WiFi name. - Pretending to be who they are not to establish familiarity, and to gain access to resources they shouldn't have. * The unintentional actions the scammers need you to perform include: - Exposing confidential or sensitive information like bank details, system access credentials, authentication codes. Better put, they need your secrets 😁. - Bypassing system securities. - Aiding the spread of harmful programs across systems. - Giving out money that you wouldn't ordinarily want to give out. - Establishing connection to free WiFi/internet through which they can access or monitor activities on the connected device(s). * Some of the key persuasive approaches they use include: - Urgency: They'd want you to perform the actions immediately. - Familiarity: They'd claim to know you or come from a source you may know. - Scarcity: They'd claim whatever they're promising will soon finish, limited or exclusive. - Social Proof: They'd claim everyone including your friends and colleagues have performed, and still performing the same actions. - Authority: They'd assume an authoritative position or figure to order you into performing unsafe actions to their advantage. * Some of the countermeasures to take include: - Pause, think and rethink; please question it. - Don't take any word or anything for it; please verify it. - If it's too good to be true, it's most likely not true; please ignore it. - Any information that enables you to initiate or complete a financial transaction, don't give it out; please protect it. - If it's free and unknown, please avoid it. - Importantly, once you could tell it's a scam/fraud or even unsure, please report it. Stay alert! Stay informed! 😊 To be continued 😉...

Anyone else having issues with Verifying your LinkedIn account with CLEAR? I have tried for awhile - even reaching out to Clear and making profile corrections. I cannot take a photo of the QR code - it opens the exact same page from laptop to mobile browser. From the application of LinkedIn, I get to CLEAR, log in my number, verify my device, then buffering on safari and chrome mobile browsers. Please tell me I am not the only one? I would imagine professionals are super busy to even bother with the technical failure - but after going through CLEAR and waiting on LinkedIn's response: I am not going to waste my breath if this last attempt fails and move on. Don't fall for the "unverified profiles" scheme of being "fake" - we are real - for me, this is a reflection of the technology institutions and not the individual for the failure at obtaining a rightful verification.
