❓ What is the Gestalt approach to coaching? Since completing post grads in behavioural sciences, I've had a real interest in Gestalt coaching, specifically in the work place. As a Gestalt coach, we’re exploring, uncovering, understanding what’s really going on for the coachee from the inside out and helping them direct their energy into fully experiencing and accepting what’s going on in the present. It’s very much about working in the present and becoming who you are. This will then allow the flow of change. 💡 It may sound overly simple plus it could also be uncomfortable to fully experience and accept what's going on in our complex life's and busy jobs. I'm super interested to hear about your views on Gestalt, especially if this relates to some change/s you are or have been through recently or are currently going through. ✔ For more information click the below short clip "Gestalt in a nutshell" . ✔ For avid readers, I can highly recommend John Leary-Joyce book "The Fertile Void". Reflecting on Authenticity in Practice Today. We guide, teach, and support others daily... Are we truly embodying the practices we share? Living the advice we offer brings depth, authenticity, and alignment to our interactions. When we practice what we preach, we lead with integrity and build genuine connection - turning guidance into lived experience. We become true practioners :) of whatever is that we practice. Let's take a moment to consider: Are you walking alongside those you guide and practice your advice? Let’s explore together what practicing our own wisdom could lead to - today's article is here: https://lnkd.in/dvsTAbMq #practice #ifscoaching #transformation #selfleadership

Art communicates through a unique language that transcends spoken and written words, speaking to us on multiple levels. Whether it's through recognizable elements like nature or historical motifs, or the subtle vibrations of color, art has the power to evoke emotions and trigger deep reflection. Symbolon specialist Bettina Clark shares her transformative experience with the Symbolon coaching method, where intensive training led to a profound shift in perception. Through resonating with images and exploring deeper layers of meaning, Bettina discovered a newfound ability to reflect externally, bringing her closer to the world around her. 🎨✨ In her words, "It's a phenomenal experience: the world has become a little closer to me." . I've been reflecting on a Coaching Conversation that took place a while ago. The client told me that they felt they had changed and used the words "emerged and grown." We spoke about the internal dialogue that takes place between the emergent person and the former self: that it's not always easy, but that it is always worth having. There are of course, some necessary safeguards. Reflection is one thing, a downward spiral of self criticism and doubt is another entirely. I was reminded of an axiom I heard some time ago and here it is: "I am three people: I am the person I think I am. I am the person you think I am I am most likely to be the person I think, you think I am. Perhaps the coaching programme has allowed my client to be less reliant on the opinions of others in order to better live with themselves. Here's a clip about growth, it has some symbolic value and I hope you enjoy it. Sharing another great 3-2-1 from James Clear. This was my favorite. "The reason people get good ideas in the shower is because it's the only time during the day when most people are away from screens long enough to think clearly. The lesson is not to take more showers, but rather to make more time to think." Janice Mita #coaching #leadershipcoaching #timetothink https://lnkd.in/eTJRbseA

Pick your instrument and practice... Did know that most artists spend 95% of their time practising and only about 5% of their time on stage performing? #SNSInstitutions #SNSDesignthinkers #SNSDesignthinking Life is a philosophical circus! Socrates declared, "To be is to do," while Kant countered with, "To do is to be." So, are we just doing beings or being doers? In the world of #Design Thinking, we’re stuck in a loop of action and existence, like a hamster on a philosophical wheel. Imagine brainstorming ideas while pondering your essence—it's like trying to juggle while riding a unicycle! Ultimately, life’s about embracing the chaos: be a doer, or just do your best impression of one. And if you trip over your own thoughts, remember: even the greatest philosophers had their off days! So go forth, be silly, and design your life with a laugh!

“The world will ask who you are, and if you do not know, the world will tell you.” - Carl Jung This has undoubtedly served as my awakening. Understanding oneself begins with peeling away the layers imposed by our upbringing environment. Our desire for change is essentially a primal urge to reconnect with our genuine selves. While some argue that change necessitates reinventing oneself entirely, I contend that it's about rediscovering our true essence - our passions, flow states, values, and inner calling. Many settle for a predictable, secure career without questioning if it aligns with their life's purpose. The quest for meaning often emerges during times of crisis - be it a quarter-life, mid-life, or identity crisis - prompting us to shift from reactive to proactive life choices. This awakening can occur in our twenties, thirties, or even forties. Those discontent with their lives muster the courage to reinvent themselves. As we grasp that our character shapes our perception of reality, crises prompt us to identify areas for personal growth. Character development, as Jim Rohn echoes, is a gradual process of self-discovery and reconnecting with our authenticity. The key is practicing congruence - aligning our inner selves with our outward actions - requiring conscious effort and courage to shed old identities. I offer complimentary clarity calls for those interested in self-discovery and character development. https://lnkd.in/eDJ8eyup #congruence #character #development #selfdiscovery #authenticity

Executive Coach specialising in Leadership and Senior Team Development
4moHi Jimi, thanks for reconnecting me with some Gestalt theory! Leaders tend to be so well developed (and rewarded) in analysing, thinking, planning, evaluating etc that it can be surprisingly difficult to truly notice (without judgement) what’s happening in the here and now. Yet it can be so powerful for generating insight and change when it does.
