A lot of people on here (me included) list the big brands they've worked with (or for) in their profiles. Some even put it in their headlines... But success with smaller brands is usually a lot harder to achieve. Often, if you're managing the right brand's program, everything just falls into place. Don't get me wrong, you still need to know what you're doing, and a big program equals a big workload. But In-demand publishers will get in touch with you, exposure is easy to secure, budget is plentiful and conversion isn't an issue. Oh, and people won't ghost you unless you're a massive douche. This is great if you want to win awards, get promoted or get head hunted. But does it prove your worth as an affiliate manager? Only with other similar brands... maybe. I actually really like the challenge of working with newer brands that are keen to grow and don't yet have much brand recognition. But watch out. The brands you choose to work have to have great products and the potential to succeed. They also need to have the right channel mix to support your efforts. Most importantly though, they need to be patient. Success won't happen overnight, no matter how much profile bling you've got. Many big publishers won't onboard you, and others will only do so it you pay a hefty fee. Oh, and you should get used to ghosting (douche or not). But when you achieve success under these circumstances, it's something to genuinely be proud of. Don't put it in your headline though 😉.
