Saudi airports record 62 million passengers during the first half of 2024, an increase of 17%
Air traffic statistics issued by the GACA - General Authority of Civil Aviation - Saudi Arabia showed that the number of passengers increased by 17% during the first half of 2024, recording about 62 million passengers, compared to 53 million passengers during the same period last year 2023, while the number of flights reached about 446 thousand. Almost a trip, an increase of 12% compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 399 thousand trips.
The authority added that the volume of air #freight witnessed an increase of 41% in the first six months of this year, reaching 606 thousand tons, compared to 430 thousand tons in the same period in 2023, according to a post on the authority’s account on the “LinkedIn” website.
King Abdulaziz International Airport in #Jeddah came in first place with 24 million passengers during the first half of this year, an increase of 16% over the same period last year, and with 148 thousand flights, an increase of 13% compared to the number of airport flights during the same period in 2023.
Followed in second place by King Khalid International Airport in #Riyadh, with 17.7 million passengers during the first 6 months of 2024, a 21% increase in the number of passengers compared to the same period in 2023, and the number of 132,000 #flights during the first half of this year, an increase of 15%. Compared to the same period last year.
King Fahd International Airport in #Dammam ranked third with a 15% growth in the number of passengers during the first half of 2024, recording 6 million passengers, and 45,000 flights during the same period, an increase of 15% compared to its counterpart in 2023.
In fourth place came Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in #Medina, with 5.6 million passengers during the first half of 2024, a #growth of 20%, and the number of flights was 39 thousand flights, an increase of 22%.
While the rest of Saudi Arabia’s #airports recorded 8.8 million passengers during the first half of this year, an increase of 16% over the same period in 2023, and the number of 83 thousand flights, an increase of 11%.
