At what point is founder transparency more detrimental than helpful? (need your honest opinion) I have always been an advocate of founders being honest and transparent on social media. But in the last few months, I have really struggled with walking the walk. It's been a difficult period in my business and my instinct is to share on LinkedIn and with our customers why and what's going on. (my team already know) But candidly, I'm worried that it could negatively impact some of my very-much-needed revenue streams, like brand partnerships, speaking gigs, and consulting. Do people want to hire someone whose business is in a rough patch? I'm not sure. And I'm already struggling enough to get brands to advertise with us for more than what feels like minimum wage rates. Let me know what you think.
I think a little caution is always good, but I don't think being transparent when the waters are a little rocky at the moment will give other entities leverage over your biz and future opportunities, if that's the concern. Here if you need a sounding board!
I think honesty all the way because you never know who's ready in the wings to pick you up, make introductions, build you back up and make you smile xxx
I’ve always loved your honest updates, it’s so refreshing to see people talk openly about the difficult times too!

3wI loved following your journey and the work you've done with your brands. It inspired us to start https://www.bangkoknewsletter.com/ I can imagine that the advertising landscape is extremely tough and unreliable especially when it comes to supporting a whole team's livelihood on it. I think many industries are experiencing the struggles of lowered consumer spending and everyone is feeling it, but your positive outlook even when sharing the tough times would be appreciated from brands and potential partners I feel.
