One shining example is COnovate, Inc., led by Dr. Carol Hirschmugl, a company that’s revolutionizing lithium-ion #batteries with their groundbreaking eCophite material. Born from a discovery at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, COnovate’s material is set to replace over 90% of the battery-grade graphite currently sourced from China. With eCophite, they’re addressing critical supply chain challenges while delivering faster charging, higher capacity, safer batteries that excel even in low temperatures. Our support for COnovate started with Catalyst Research Grants, fostering collaborations within UWM and enabling pivotal research. Through BRIDGE grant funding, we helped COnovate scale from nanograms to kilograms and demonstrate their material’s exceptional performance in batteries.
