Yesterday I sat down with a new client we recently onboarded. We were reviewing a few years of old tax returns and noticed a few mistakes that her CPA made last year, along with other years prior. Unfortunately, these mistakes costed her $22,000 last year alone. Thankfully, we were able to recognize this, make a proper introduction to a new CPA, and confidently know that their team will get our client headed in the right direction. It's one thing to know, like, and trust an individual (which is extremely important), but what kind of results are they producing? Make it a habit to continually audit your "board of directors" in order to make sure your wealth building journey is headed in the right direction, with the right crew on board.

The best part of being in the accounting profession is undoubtedly the relationships we build and the collaborative spirit in sharing knowledge. The more time I spend working with those in the profession and understanding their pain points, the more passionate I become about helping them tackle their challenges. Sometimes, it means recommending Laurel but often, it involves connecting them with someone in my network who can assist. Many firms are dealing with pain points, and while we address the bottleneck of timekeeping, I've realized that a holistic approach and the long view can be helpful on a much broader scale. My passion for accounting extends beyond offering timekeeping solutions; it's about being a valuable ally to those who need guidance and support. It's through these strong connections and a genuine commitment to understanding the needs of others that we can all excel as professionals and individuals. Very early on in my journey into accounting, Kane Polakoff took the time to learn about Laurel and offer his feedback on our solution. At the same time, he also opened doors to his network, which, when you are in early-stage startup mode, is about the most valuable thing you can ask or hope for.
