Tawfeeq is the Arabic word for divine providence. Finding the Washington History Seminar's Youtube channel and this webinar, "I Saw Death Coming," feels like tawfeeq to me because I often feel I am on a long journey to better understand this country I love and the awful things it has done and continues to do. They are all fact-based and provide important information about the Jews, Israel, the Arab world, antisemitism, the roots of the October 7 massacre and the threat that radical Islam and its terrorist messengers pose to world peace and the Western civilization.

The history of most countries of the world is a history of war. The states we know on the world map today are the result of long years of war.

In summary, while it is accurate to characterize some actions taken by the Pequots as retaliatory in nature, it is also essential to understand these within the larger framework of colonial aggression and violence. The disparities in military power and tactics between the Pequots and English settlers led to a conflict where retaliatory actions from Indigenous tribes were met with overwhelming force from colonists. This context helps clarify why subsequent conflicts continued to reflect similar patterns of brutality and why Indigenous resistance was often met with harsh reprisals from European settlers. Understanding these dynamics is crucial for a comprehensive view of colonial history and its impact on Native American societies.
