Every year, speakers emphasize that donors don't care about an organization's fiscal year-end as a reason to give, and the audience concurs. Yet, I consistently receive appeals solely centered around the fiscal year-end or arbitrary dates. If we, as fundraising professionals, understand that fiscal year-end isn't a compelling reason to give, why do we continue to push it as the primary motivator? This approach lacks donor-centricity. While FYE appeals are important, maybe it's time to shift towards more story and impact-focused appeals that resonate with potential donors' interests. Let's strive for a more donor-centric approach in our fundraising efforts.
