This July, I’ve joined K’s for R U OK? to create a healthy habit, strengthen my connections and start conversations. It’s all to raise funds and awareness for R U OK? Together let's get start conversations and start changing lives! My goal is 100km and to raise $400 If you would like to join me we can start a team! My K's will be from a mixture of daily steps at work and from 2-3 walks up Mt Louisa walking track per week. A CONVERSATION CAN CHANGE A LIFE R U OK? inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with those in their world who may be struggling with life. You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener. Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life: 1. Ask R U OK? 2. Listen 3. Fall in Love Again...with Your Organization! A couple of Asking Matters followers reached out to say they really appreciated this week's Monday Morning Matters (join my FB group, Asking Matters Insiders, to get MMM's every week!) So I figured I'd repost it for everyone working at, or serving on the board of, a nonprofit: Fall in love with your organization again this week. Spend some quality time with your organization’s programs to remind yourself of the lives you are changing. Ask the program staff to share their stories. Reengage your own sense of commitment, for from commitment comes courage.

🔄 Dealing with Repetition 🔄 Here's a common scenario: Your dad repeats the same story for the third time in ten minutes. You're tempted to point it out, but what's the best way to respond? A) Tell him to stop repeating the story B) 🧠 Remember that changes in memory are part of aging. Practice patience and understanding. Here's your appeal letter Story Formula: The Community has a Problem. Your Organization has the Solution. The only way to Implement is with Donor Dollars. Wondering where you find your community problem? The first place to look is in the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Chances are good that your community problem is the opposite of these statements. For example: if your mission is to end childhood hunger the community problem is that KIDS ARE HUNGRY! That is compelling. It's attention grabbing. Now that you know your community problem, how are you going to use it in your appeal letter... Simple... Ready for it? It's the opening line of your appeal. Kids are hungry. Don't start your spring appeal with a paragraph talking about the joys of spring. People already know that. They are living it; they don't need you to remind them. Start with the problem. Grab their attention. That's it for this week.
