Geopolitical, Security & Tech. Risk Management

In the last few months, I had the privilege of working with the BlueDot Impact team and fellow participants to delve into critical aspects of AI safety, with a particular focus on policy and governance AI Safety Fundamentals. Through engaging sessions and discussions, we examined diverse perspectives and tackled complex topics at the intersection of AI and society. My project topic was - TRUST AND SAFETY IN USER-CENTRIC AI SAFETY CHALLENGES: Safeguarding Societies. I argued that although at the personal level, AI has proven useful in education and learning, acquiring new skills, exploring new career paths and improving productivity, the risks are increasingly concerning for people’s day-to-day lives. Some of the case studies that underpinned my argument include a 2024 case of *Suicide Encouraged by AI, an AI-Made Sexual Abuse Imagery of Children and an AI Harmful Challenge for a Child from 2021*. I also provided an outlook, highlighting potential (not-so-good) future outcomes in the areas of *Proliferation of Sexual Abuse Content, Intimate Relationship Harm, Hate Crime – Racism Emboldening, and Cyberbullying and Harassment*. Generally, the project was about the importance of prioritising user and societal protection from AI technologies and their misuse - https://lnkd.in/eGxxjNtY. This experience has deepened my commitment to exploring AI policy and governance, geopolitics, and accountability, as well as its transformative applications in defence and security. I’m excited to continue learning and contributing to these vital areas.
